Finalizing our trip to Crete and Rhoads. Any feedback from the LL community????
Sorry, nothing to add, but can't wait to hear what you have planned. Are you spending some time in Athens, as well?
Ooh, try the Samarian Gorge if you are interested in walking longish distances. I loved it, it's what I always expected Greece to be like. Then you end up at a village on the Libyan Sea and can kick back and eat and drink. Really, it goes from an incredibly mountainous region all the way to the beach and it was pretty cool. I think I stayed in Chania, but I also stayed in another city I can't recall the name of. Whatever that city was, had a really nice harbor and some ancient Venetian architecture, I believe.
Edited to say--that's in Crete--I haven't been to Rhodes.
Thanks All. K-no time in Athens on this trip. Have been there and thought we would get to the islands. N-I read about the Gorge...sounds amazing!!! We are staying in a very small village for three nights; not near the tourist side of the island. We are in the southern part of the island on the Libyan Sea. Can't wait!
Bonniejoy. Did you take your trip? How was it? I was wondering if you stayed in the LL property in Lindos. I'm thinking about going there.
Hi C. We head out in May. We will be staying at the LL property Melenos Lindos. It is a SLH. I think we are all ready! Just finalized the car and domestic flights.
I've been to some Greek islands but not Crete or Rhodes. I've heard great things about Crete. Have a wonderful trip!
bonniejoy,
In a different thread I talked about our trip to Crete. I also suggested that you to read the book by Mary Renault's, the King Must Die, an absolute Must for a trip to Crete, as well as Mary Renault's book of The Bull from the Sea, an equally good read. If you don't have the time before you leave, read at least the synopsis under the following link. SparkNotes: The King Must Die: Summary Happy reading and happy travels.
Hi J and L...THANK YOU! I am 1/2 Greek so will be nice to visit again. Let's hope for a great experience!
