BARCELONA ACCOMMODATION
Help! If anyone knows of a studio apartment or a 1-bedroom unit for rent inJune of 2008 somewhere in the inner districts of Barcelona, Spain, I'd appreciate hearing from you, particularly if you yourself or someone you know has actually rented such an apartment and would recommend it to others. My wife and I will be visitingBarcelona in thefirst week of Juneand are looking for a good place to stay. On the other hand,if you have fairly recently stayedin or know of a cozy little and modest hotel preferanly in theLas RamblasorSegrada Familiasareas of Barcelona, please let me know as we'd be interested ina room in such a place, as an alternative to an apartment. Being located near a subway stop would bea definite plus, as it would make getting aroundBarcelona for sight-seeing a lot easier and quicker. Thanks for any help you can give us.
I have surfed the web at expedia, hotwire, kayak, travelocity and most of the other major travel search engines on the Internet. Have had a lot of hits for hotels all over Barcelona, but find it hard to choose one on-line. Have had very few results for a small rental apartment and most of the ones I've found that suit our needs already seem booked!

Re: BARCELONA ACCOMMODATION
Hi Curt, A couple of years ago we stayed at a very nice small boutique hotel called Prestige Paseo de Gracia.
http://www.prestigepaseodegracia.com
It's in a great location, short walk to Las Ramblas and the Gothic quarter. Rooms are not big, but I guess that's typical in Europe. The decor was very modern, the staff was great. I spent much too much time trying to figure out where to stay, but we were very pleased with this choice. If it turns out that you're looking for a small hotel rather than an apratment, you may want to check it out. I'm not sure how the Canadian dollar is doing against the Euro - that may determine whether it's modest or outrageous.

Re: BARCELONA ACCOMMODATION
Hi disneygal
If the Paseo De Gracia Hotel isn't already an LL property, it should be. Thanks to your weblink to the hotel's website, I had a good look at this fabulous and luxurious-looking property a short distance north of the north end of The Ramblas in Barcelona. In almost every aspect, it would be ideal for my wife and I when we visit the Catalan capital at the beginning of June. Best of all, we have the benefit of your recommendation based on your stay at this boutique hotel. The only drawback is the rack rate. At 82.50 euro a night per person, which amounts to just about $500 US/CAD for our stay, it's beyondwhat we'veallotted for accommodationin Barcelona on our Europe trip. Luckily, I've just found a charming B&B not very far east of this one for a virtual steal. Thanks a lot for your information. I'm sure others on the LL Community will find it useful.
Curt
