The Former "Yugoslavia"
My husband and I spent many years visiting the former Yugoslavia. In fact, we even honeymooned there in 1989. We were trying to gather feedback on how our "favorite" spots were doing since the 1990's. Has anyone visited the Lake Bled area? (now Slovenia). We were also wondering about Dubrovnik? We had so much fun there in the 80's and early 90's. We have considered going back but its difficult to gather information. I do see cruise ships stop in Dubrovnik however, we don't want to cruise. Anyone been there recently?

We were in Dubrovnik for a week last August. Had a wonderful time. LOTS of tourists but the walled city was beautiful, the shopping wasn't too much, and the people watching was great. We stayed in a wonderful apartment just outside the old walled city, listed on vrbo.com. Very short walk to the gate and even shorter walk to the beach. We then drove up to Split but if I had it to do over again, and I will, I would take a three or four day cruise up from Dubrovnik to Split and then fly away. The palace in Split is the only real attraction (people watching better in Dubrovnik) and it takes an afternoon to see. I will go again.

Veraginn. Thank you for your feedback on two counts. First, its great to hear about Dubrovnik. I heard about all the tourists though. I believe many cruise ships stop there. Yuck. Did you get to the island of Lokrum off of Dubrovnik? We used to go there and just grab some food and have a picnic and sun on the rocks! I didn't enjoy Split as much as Dubrovnik. Second, I posted about vrbo on another thread and didn't hear any feedback. I have been looking at the site and would appreciate any feedback. Was this your first time using it? How was the staff to work with? Had you been to Dubrovnik in the past to know where you wanted to stay? (we have stayed in the past in a home and in hotels.) Thank you again. PS-Was this your first time to Dubronik and how did you choose it? Did you go to Lljubana also?
