The Ritz in Madrid, Spain

Would love to hear more about the Ritz Madrid when you recover from the jet lag! We have been looking at that property for an extended weekend getaway.

We recently stayed for 3 nights at the Ritz in Madrid on our way back to the States. I had won the LL package on Mystery auction. The hotel was lovely, although it showed some signs of age and could use some freshening up. The service is still legendary. The package contained tickets to the nearby 3 major museums and we took full advantage of it. We visited the Prado one day in the morning, came back to the Ritz for lunch and a short rest and went back to the Prado to see the rest of the wonderful collection. (The hotel provided us with an excellent, free art guide to the Prado.) We did the same with the Thyssen museum and took advantage of the special Gaugin Exhibit. The exhibit was very timely for us as we are going to Tahiti in January. Both museums are so close to the hotel, that it was easy to come back and enjoy lunch at the hotel's garden restaurant, and rest our tired feet. As we were busy enjoying the art museums, we had little time to see more of Madrid itself, but we swore to come back and see the rest of Madrid at another time.
Apart from an excellent dinner at the Ritz we also went out to dinner at a 2-star Michelin Restaurant named La Terazza del Casino La Terraza del Casino : Useful information and the Michelin Guide review which served the most exquisite and creative tapas we had ever tasted. A world apart from your regular tapas, to say the least.

Thank you for remembering my interest in this property and for the details regarding LL's included perks! Sounds like the type of break we were looking for. We will have to wait for some warmer weather to really enjoy Madrid.
