Top Tourist Traps in Europe
short article--great comments!!
http://current.newsweek.com/budgettr...est_touri.html
I have to nominate the Litttle Mermaid in Copenhagen:
Not only is it a MINOR piece of statuary, the Danish had the nerve to put a live cam of her "on holiday" at the Shanghai Expo last year. Talk about a pathetic "attraction"
Have to agree about the vendors at Pisa--they RUIN the place, entirely unecessary. And the tourists w/the stoooopid photos holding up the Leaning Tower are idiots to the nth degree."wherever you go, there you are"

I would have to agree with the Little Mermaid in Copenhagen. It's certainly not worth a detour. Another one is the Mannequin Pies in Brussles.

oh the Brussels piddler!!! (that's pis)
good one, but I stumbled onto the statue by accident so I didn't go looking for him!
(I actually saw a mention of restaurant by the same name somewhere in one of my culinary wanderings--not exactly what I'd choose for a dining establishment!)"wherever you go, there you are"

05-15-2011, 09:59 AMThere's a female mannequin piss in Brussels too! I don't know what's she's called. I stumbled upon her by accident one day.. She is just in some random alley. Just thought I would throw that in

copahc,
You are right, there is a female version of Mannequin Pis.
Jeanneke Pis is more modern than the famous Mannequin Pis, it was erected in 1987. It's close to the Grote Markt, located on the east side of the Impasse de la Fidélité / Getrouwheidsgang (Faith Alley), a dead end street just off the restaurant packed Rue des Bouchers / Beenhouwersstraat (Butchers' Street).
In my opinion, also a site to be missed, or another Tourist Trap in Europe to be avoided.
