WARNING: Amalfi Coast - Positano Hotel Poseidon - Bad Experience

I would like to tell you about our experience at Hotel Poseidon and what they attempted to do, which my wife and I are very displeased about and put a damper on our Honey Moon during our stay there.

When we arrived at Hotel Poseidon, they mentioned that they have the room ready and have purposely chosen a special room for us as it was on the Top Floor of the hotel and we did not have to walk far. We were excited to see the room, however when we went to the room #32 which was on the 4^th Floor, it was clearly not the room that we reserved. The room was small dark and clearly not the room that I reserved or paid for. They said this was a Junior Suite Superior, however what they actually gave us was a superior room.

We went down to speak with the front desk and told them they have given us the wrong room, however they insisted and argued with me and my wife that the room that they gave to use was a Junior Suite Superior. Using their hotel lobby internet, I had to go onto the Hotel Website and Luxury Link to show them what room they have given us and what they are showing as a Superior Room and Junior Suite Superior room. Depicted on (Hotel Poseidon in Positano, Italy - Hotel Travel Deals | Luxury Link) slide 14 which is a Junior Superior Suite and slide 13 Superior Room. We showed them the pictures and detailed them the differences in the room and they insisted that the room that they have given us was a Junior Suite Superior. Even when they called down the manager they insisted it was the right room. Not until we asked to see a comparison room, did they say that another Jr. Superior Suite room was available, but it was exactly the same and we asked to see it. And that if we preferred to stay in that room we could.

We went up to the new room#56 on the 6^th floor, which was above the 4^th floor and 5^th floor (apparently there what they have told us was top floor of the hotel, was not the top floor, but there are 2 levels above), it was completely different. The size difference was much larger and true Jr. Superior Room had its own separate sitting area, hallway to bathroom and storage closet. The superior room that they originally gave us could fit in the sitting room of the Junior Suite Superior. The bathroom of the Junior Suite Superior alone was half the size of the superior room suite. We could not believe the difference in room size and how they could pass off the smaller room as a superior room, especially for the price difference. We said that we would stay in the new room which truly was a Junior Suite Superior.

The attitude of the front desk and workers that we dealt with was very unpleasant during the rest of our stay after the encounter and we did not enjoy our stay at the hotel, but the town was lovely. I truly believe the hotel purposely tried to put us in a lower suite then what we reserved and paid for on Luxury Link and did not want to give us the room we paid for.

Please don't let this happen to you. Stay away from Hotel Poseidon

So sorry to hear about your bad experience....especially with it being on your honeymoon! Whatever you do, don't give up on booking through LL. This is an isolated incident and does not represent the type of service an LL customer usually receives at listed properties.

Yes, I agree with these comments. You should also call LL and speak to one of the concierges. I'm sure they would relay this info the LL account manager for the Positano Hotel who would likely call the hotel.

nickel88, I booked and utilized a number of wonderful trips through Luxury Link and fortunately, I have never had an experience similar to what you have outlined. It really sounds like a hotel/management matter rather than a general attitude toward Luxury Link travelers. I think many, if not most of us, who are frequent buyers generally experience just the opposite.

I agree, let the Luxury Link office know about your visit and maybe future travelers will avoid a similar experience.
