danielboldea....you make some excellent points....we have long believed in 'tipping ahead' to key personnel when arriving at a property (it's not really a bribe, since most will hand out a few gratuities during and after their stay).
Reid's Palace is very active on Twitter and their social media staff have provided a lot of details and arranged to book appointments in advance of our arrival. They have been very good about confirming all of the Luxury Link perks as well.
We have stayed at the Orient-Express Miraflores in Lima on several occasions and have interacted with many of their long time staff members. We forwarded an email to one of these staff members and requested some 'considerations' upon arrival at Reid's Palace (we would like to see the suite Churchill frequented and a few other goodies)....the GM invited us to a private wine tasting for 20 of their regular guests (we're not 'regulars' since this our first visit) one evening prior to dinner.
We believe most luxury properties enjoy showcasing what they have to offer to guests who express any interest.....it's not about being 'demanding' but rather being appreciative.
btw...of course. at least one or two pasteis de nata and we shall raise a copo de Vinho Verde to all community members at lunch daily, saúde!
