Yours is a valid question and certainly deserves a better than a 1 rating. I have seen a lot of 1 ratings lately and it is infuriating when people amuse themselves with abusing the rating system. That said, coming back to your question, I have never felt being treated like a 2nd class citizen when using LL packages. On the contrary, in my experiences, hotels were always eager to please. We have been on at least 25 LL packages, and not once have we had a problem with service.
Hope you will be treated as well as we have when you use your packages.
imbues....we've noticed this matter discussed in a couple of previous postings. From our personalexperiences of havingtaken at least 17 auction trips through LL, we have never felt the slightestindications of reducedservices.The exact terms ofarrangements between theindividual properties and LL are a mystery to us, but they must included providing these packages in exchange for advertising and exposure on this web site. We assume there is some type of "barter" system involving the exchange of the accommodationswith LL.
Whatever the system and arrangements, we haven't been treated as, nor have we ever felt like,second class citizens at any of the destinations. On the contrary, most of the owners of the smaller properties we've stayed at using LL packages haveappeared to have taken extra efforts in seeing we enjoyed out visits and encouraged us to tell our friends and family aboutour stay.
Rest assured, if we ever do have a "bad experience" and cannot get it resolved during our stay, we willopenly express our feelings here in this community, as well as share them with LL management.
Thank you Travelfan, you're one of the most traveled here, so your experience means a lot. It's good to hear that traveling under LL's packages results in decent treatment. Although, many of the auctions are deeply discounted they are not for free. Then most spend more money on food and drink at the property. I don't expect to be treated like a queen, but at least like a paying customer.
LOL, Some passive aggressive, numb skull has been following me around and giving me one ratings for a while. Anyone that has that much time on there hands, and uses it to do that, is a true idiot. If they think it will chase me away than they have a long wait. I'm way beyond caring if everybody likes me, in life. Hehe I do hate seeing others get a one rating though and if it hurts there feelings that sucks. You and me though, were New Yorkers so petty spitefulness couldn't penetrate our armor. Some bully isn't going to chase me away with childish behavior.
Hi Imbues We have not had the good fortune to travel on as many LL packages as LH or O but each experience has been wonderful so far. Our stay in Tortola was made even better by the Long Bay Beach LL resort welcoming us back with wine in our room and great treatment after the extention that I selected was unacceptable. Icis villas that I picked was terrible! Long Bay Beach quickly cleaned a room for our return - it was worth the lost deposit to leave Icis! Other memorable LL purchases have included our own villa in Tuscany ( one step closer camporsevoli), superb accomodations in Umbria - (Villa Zuccari) , checked out LL property in Gubbio We would definitely reccommend it too! Canada Cathedral Mountain Lodge was a dream! We have plans for London, Antigua and Jamaica all with LL this yearI'm certain all your LL trips will be fantastic! Best of luck with the ratings - unimaginable that someone would stoop so low - when we each enjoy your comments and posts - after all we are each here to learn from one another and gain travel knowledge- too bad - by the way your last post had a 2 before I replied ... maybe your stalker is feeling better in this community lately
I haven't purchased as many LL packages as others, but I can say that I have never been treated less than appropriate (I'm not sure I deserve the royal treatment - as much as I'd like to think I am) at any of the properties that I have stay at through LL purchases. In fact, when I contact the hotel(s), I immediately tell them that I have "won" a the package and start working with them. Only once did I have a bit of a time trying to find a weekend that would work with the hotel/my schedule as this hotel did have some restrictions on availibilty. Having said that, the hotel actually allowed me to extend the offer longer than what was listed because we could not come up with a mutual time that worked!
I'm glad you posted as well! No matter how many great travels I have been on with LL, I always worry that something like that will happen.
I will admit to one less than perfect experience out of many wonderful experiences, so your post doesn't sound like a total endorsement of LL. I won't recant the details here. I did post some of the pluses and minuses for people who chance upon it as they are bidding. That said, I can't confirm that our issues at that property were the result of being an LL customer and not just dumb bad luck. The latter is more likely the case
In general, I echo the positive comments of others;and I know you as a seasoned LL traveler have probably also experienced. Particularly, for the more random out of the way packages, the properties do tend to treat you as if they are hoping you will go back home with the very best of memories and encourage all of your friends to take a look.
