30% promo code and VIP certificate?
I thought I saw another poting on this but could not locate - if youbid on a package with a 30% off code - can you also use your VIP certificate - I want to bid on a package that is on sale for 30% with promo code but do not want to bid unless I can use my gift certificate along with it?
Thanks

Under the last promotion around Christmas, we were able to use the 10% off Promo Code as well as the Gift Certificate.
I also used a 30% off promo code but did not use my Gift Certificate with it because the price was so low as it was and I did not want to waste the Gift Certificate on it.
I suggest you call Dena or Jim at LL to inquire about it before bidding. Just to be on the safe side.

I did call LL and the person that answered said they did not think you could use both - when you bid there is only 1 space to put a promo code so where would you put the code for the 30% and then VIP certificate?

I just spoke with Jim and we can no longer combine the 30% discount with our VIP certificates - new management has said no more ;-(

02-08-2012, 03:43 AMdenise, I think we tossed around some speculation in this thread regarding the impact of change and new management:
Changes at Luxury Link
In the years I've been buying from Luxury Link, I have seen a number of changes; maybe evolutionary in process.
Some of the changes I guess have been improvements and some have not been as favorable, at least in my opinion.
We'll have to see how this latest round of changes fair.

The new owners are a "group of investors" and they basically said LL not making enough profit - my husband and I know all too well what happens when a group of investors buy a company - his company was purchased by one of these groups and they lost vacation days, sick days, lower pay and branches were closed. These groups are only in for one thing - $$$. I can understand they want to make $ but usually it ends up killing the "concept" of the company they take over.
LL still has some of the best deals on luxury properties around but I have noticed the deals are not quite as good as they used to be

No, you can't use promo code and gift certificate - I tried yesterday!
Hi, I feel yor pain. I, once again, tried using my promo code along with the gift certificate
and was told I could not. It is hard for me to understand this concept. If there are discount
codes, any promo codes, why can't we, loyal Luxury Link customers, use them? This has been an ongoing problem, I blogged about it earlier and was told by fellow bloggers that, of course, you could use them together. I called, e-mailed Dena before making my bid, was told the new system would not accept these 2 codes. I have decided not to puirchase any more
gift certificates as gifts for anyone (it was a wonderful gift to give our grown children), or myself. Luxury Link is still a wonderful site where travel deals are exceptional, but I am afraid
the site is overlooking a potential revenue source with its best customers. If we all want this
corrected, we need to contact the management and suggest that it is unfair to punish those of us who want and have a code to use, be allowed to apply it to our payment. Agree?

runaround, are you talking about gift certificates that you actually purchase with your cash or credit card? And you can't use a promo code with the equivalent of cash or a credit card????
Wow, that's crazy! Why purchase a gift certificate then? Just counter productive to getting more cash upfront for the business.

Yes, we were able to use our VIP certs with another promo, including Mystery Auctions. You could call and have a concierge enter the VIP cert code. Have we also lost the ability to use them on Mystery Auctions?
For Mystery Auctions, there was no place to enter a code but you could call a concierge after the end of the auction to have the VIP cert entered. That was one advantage of a VIP cert - they could be used on anything!
If there is a change in how VIP certs can be used, you would think there would be an announcement sent to those affected - to the VIPs. And one would think that the announcement would state that it would apply to certs issued on and after the effective date of the change, for future VIP certs.
Without such an announcement in advance, you could be really disappointed once it was too late, after winning ann auction and expecting to be able to use the cert.
I don't mean to complain because of course I love the VIP certs and appreciate them, but if there is a change, it seems the change should be communicated in advance for certs issued after the effective date. That's how it works with most all other frequent travel/loyalty programs.Last edited by jmbklj; 02-08-2012 at 10:00 AM. Reason: typo
