30% promo code and VIP certificate?

CORRECTION: Thanks to the new and improved website, I see there now is a box on a Mystery Auction bid to insert a promo or certificate code.

When I won a Mystery Auction in November, before the site update, there was no such box to enter a code.

I too won a Mystery Auction in early January 2012. I called LL Customer Service and asked if my VIP Certificates could be used. I was told no VIP Gift Certificates on Mystery Auctions!
It seems like we are getting conflicting answers. LL really should be putting out some guidelines on how and when Promo Codes and VIP Gift Certificates can be used and when and when not promotions and VIP Certificates can be combined. The rules certainly seem very unclear. There is nothing in writing, and, so it seems, you depend on the "favors" of the person you talk to.
In runaround's case, where Gift Certificates were purchased, the rule of not being able to combine a Promo Code with a purchased Gift Certificates seems particularly harsh and outright stupid on LL's part. Why would LL punish and alienate their best customers???
I am sorry to be so critical on this issue, but LL really ought to work on these issues to set the record straight!!!!!.

My name is Bart and I am responsible for the Concierge team here at Luxury Link. I'm glad to help answer some of the questions on this thread.

We are in the process of updating our rules for promo code usage, and I can see that we need to do a better job communicating with our most recent VIP certificate holders. I will be emailing all of you today with specifics. Please keep in mind that these certificates are courtesy of Luxury Link. In terms of gift certificates people purchase, we do allow those to be used with other discounts.

It seems as though there is some confusion about our owners. The owners have not changed in some time (please see our About Us pages). In fact, one of our co-founders, Diane, is our President. That said, we are making changes designed to give you better service. You will find that we have extended the hours of operation for Concierge and we will soon be open seven days a week, for example.

Thanks Bart for the clarification - FYI - I am not a new LL member or a new VIP - I have been using LL since the early days and this policy was never clear. Sometimes you were able to use a promo code and certificate and sometimes not.

Nice posting and really shows the need for clarification. I never dreamed I would stir up a "hornet's nest" with my simple question ;-)

I ended up not purchasing the 30% off package after researching airfares and how to get to the place - logistical nightmare! But really appreciated the fact that I could have used both a cert and the 30% promo. I ended up bidding on a different package instead.

LLtravelfan, I believe you may use a VIP cert for a Mystery Auction because there is now a box to insert your code when making your Mystery Auction bid.

Bart, or Luxury Link, can you confirm this?

Well, why didn't you ask for free airline tickets? Bart might have felt compassion on you and the rest of us and thrown in a one time deal for free air transportation.

Hi Community - Here's the answer on your questions regarding certificates being used with Mystery Auctions:

-Promotional and/or VIP Certificates cannot be used to purchase a Mystery Auction

-Purchased LL Gift Certificates can be used towards Mystery Auctions, but you will have to contact our concierge service in order for them to apply it to your purchase.
