I am just glad my Nicaragua flights in March are on United!
November to CR is the 1st time we ever are using AA and we will see how they are - it may or may not be the last time we use AA ;-)Roam if you want to, roam around the world...........

Well, kyshel, the 'scare tactics' from my perspective as a potential flyer on AA seem fairly straight forward.
I currently am 'scared' to book any flights on AA in the foreseeable future. If I were holding tickets, especially with connecting flight segments on AA, I would be very, very uncomfortable that I might miss connections and be stranded. No let me correct that, I would be scared.
We are considering rescheduling a long weekend trip to Central America until after the New Year, simply because AA is the only carrier offering non-stop service and their flights have been erratic of late.
In my opinion, the 'sick calls' are a deliberate strategy not a coincidence.
Admittedly, I am looking at the situation selfishly as a consumer, since I am a frequently flier with AA.Last edited by omegaet; 09-29-2012 at 01:48 PM.

09-29-2012, 01:59 PMNo sympathy from me for the unions, their members or the management team at American Airlines.
The only losers in this deal are passengers.
I will be glad when the entire mess is settled and I can go back to thinking about flying to South America.

Article covers the root of the issues quite well.
Now, if you want to see a REAL mess--wait to see what happens in a "merger" with US Air."wherever you go, there you are"

Airlines are making profits again - billions in baggage fees alone. No sympathy for airlines from me especially with all the mergers and merger talks - less choice, higher prices, etc. for the consumer. The wave of the future.

Coincidence or Not?
Probably will never know the answer as to why this happened. Just a coincidence AA is having employee/union issues in addition to bankruptcy, maybe not.

No airline is making BILLIONS of $ on baggage fees. You are mistaken about the number of zeroes. Do you have a clue about what fuel costs are per mile per person on any given flight?
Maybe you should investigate the real numbers--OPERATING costs, for example. If you want service, safety, transportation, you have to include all those factors and much more."wherever you go, there you are"
