Adaptor and/or Converter needed?

Going to Chile and Sweden with our mini-computer. Do we need an adaptor and/or converter to recharge the mini computer and batteries for the digital camera? Thanks so much!! PS- Our adaptor/converter set is from 1988......have they updated the product. Also, in Chile last year, we didn't use one for the battery charger for the camera however, it doesn't work anymore so not sure if it was on its last legs or we should have used a converter!!-you would think we have never left Pennsylvania!!!

As to your camera battery charger that you used without an adapter in Chili, you probably burned it out. You might have to get a new camera battery charger as well as an adapter. Here is what you need for Chili. http://www.international-electrical-...-adapters.html

Thanks LL but still confused. Went to AAA and purchased an "all in one' convertor/adaptor. I read the directions and it was crazy. It seems that any type of appliance could have problems! Someone from TA advised checking the product for dual voltage. Good news is the HP mini is dual voltage so only an adaptor is needed. The battery charger is 110 V so would need a convertor and adaptor! My set from 1989 is outdated so can't use this one anymore! Talked to friends who travel the world with every piece of technology and they seem to just carry adaptors. Thanks again LL!

It's been my experience that most electronic products made fairly recently are dual voltage, so in that case, you only need adaptors. When I buy a new electronic product, I check just to make sure it's dual voltage.

Thanks J...I am beginning to see that also. Now, we have to find adaptors. Seems like the local stores only have a two prong adaptor. We are checking online at Amazon and Meritline.com. What a task!

Yes, I've had good luck with Amazon even for "challenging" or confusing countries like Africa. The reviews on Amazon were helpful when there was conflicting info or different models to choose from.
