AIRFARE PRICES
Has anyone else noticed that airfares have not moved down at all (and in some cases up). I know with the fuel charges, etc., prices are probably planning to go up. It just seems strange that I haven't noticed any major airfare sales (at least to the regions I typically watch...Caribbean and Central America.) I have not received any notification from YAPTA for any of my fares going down. Guess it was good that Ibooked three trips earlier in the year!
Anyone have any luck of airfares decreasing? If so, which regions?

bonniejoy03, no way on the decreases of late. Even YAPTA, which has done a great job in the past for me, hasn't been sending me any reduction in fare emails of late. I think it will be a while, maybe a long while, before we see reductions again - maybe a quick sale now and then, but no genral across the board reductions.

Re: AIRFARE PRICES
Bonnie--count your ble$$ing$!! After American Airlines' problems of late, fares are going up--they have to. SkyBus is gone, ATA is gone, Aloha is gone after 60 years operating in the islands...fuel and luggage surcharges galore. Plus, expect some news soon for a major legacy carrier merger...
PS--I am seeing promos in the US to European markets advertised, but haven't seen if the prices are actually "sale" fares compared to previous ones."wherever you go, there you are"

Re: AIRFARE PRICES
Good. Thanks for confirming what I thought. Though, I was pricing Guatemala for February from Baltimore, Philly, and Harrisburg. It was quite interesting to see the fares out of Baltimore almost 33% less than the other markets (prime weekend tickets were $417 with tax...where else can you go for that cost!). I am tempted to buy them now. I can only guess that they are competing with foreign carriers that also use the DC markets. Just doesn't make sense with airfares so high. (PS- It was on American Air!!)

Re: AIRFARE PRICES
Wow Bonnie--at that price, even I would be tempted to buy confirmed seats!! I will never understand the market strategies they use to price fares. No wonder Yapta et al are so useful--an antidote to "who knew?"

Hi,
Frontiers is just another one who has declared Chapter 11 and over here in Europe, KLM/Airfrance is trying to gobble up Al Italia. I am not sure we will see fares drop in the near future.

With the recent events, I'm sure that we won't be seeing airfare prices go down anytime soon. I'm just hoping it won't go up too soon.

Re: AIRFARE PRICES
You all convinced me to proceed! I am holding a "free ticket" and will coordinate the land portion and then get the paying ticket. Still hoping LL will add some properties in Guatemala! This air price did seem too good and I know how the prices have been this past year so, guess I am going back to Guatemala!!

Re: AIRFARE PRICES
Oh please....tell me you are kidding! We always book aisle. Great.....everyone will be fighting over center seats. Fine...put me in the center and seperate two other people who paid premium...
Funny you said this....we will probably use AA in 09 and will start looking closer at Delta. We loved Delta on the way to Nicaragua but HATED going through customs on the way back in Atlanta. Maybe it was just a one time thing. I can't seem to win in choosing a carrier! I do love little charter companies like Air Sunshine, Trans Anguilla, etc...they go when we are ready!Plus, I usually only have to fight with my husband on which seat to pick!!
