Airline fees: What you'll pay to check a bag, change your ticket, more
If you haven't seen this article on Airline Fees at http://www.usatoday.com/travel/fligh...reakdown_N.htm, please have a look at the link. This article is the most comprehensive listing on what you'll pay to check a bag, change your ticket, etc. that I have seen.
I hope you'll find this helpful.
I tried to reprint the article here, but unfortunately the tabs did not hold, so please open the link yourself.

more ways to nickle and dime customers - I am getting pretty fed up with the whole extra fee thing from the airlines and now from hotels. Less service now costs more money - is this what we have to look forward to in the future from everything!

When I purchased my tickets to Mexico - we got charged almost $200 extra for each ticket and most of the fees were some kind of security fee - how many security fees do you need - 9/11 fee, homeland security fee, airport security fee - I would like to know where all that $ is going! Also got the new fuel surcharge fee. Just when you think you got a really good price on your airline ticket - you get to the end and there are the fees - enough to make you sick ;-(

Fly.com is an airfare search engine from Travelzoo. They have added the baggage costs & restrictions for all major airlines on domestic and international flights. The information is listed next to each fare price, making it much easier to compare the true cost you will pay for the flight.
The baggage information is 1)specific to the route and airline shown 2)notes the difference between advanced and at-airport purchases. Here is the link: Fly.com Now Lists Baggage Fees

How about fees to print boarding passes at the airport?
Sometimes what the LCC's in Europe do first, eventually comes here to the US. Ryanair already charges for printing boarding passes, and this practice was just ruled as illegal in Spain. The 40 euro charge was challenged in Barcelona. Scroll down and also look at some of the comments to this policy (using the link below). Sometimes you can't print a boarding pass when on the road, or your app for it doesn't work. At least, for now, we aren't charged here in the US for printing boarding passes at the airport.

It will be interesting to watch the outcome of this one. Ryanair plans to appeal. If Ryanair is successful, might we expect the same here in the US since all the airlines are looking for ways to "strip out costs"?
Speaking of stripping, Ryanair is stripping for charity.......
