Re: Alaska Cruises
Hi crNo firm plans for Alaska as yet. But, when we do go, it'll be in summer for sure (as you note, June seems the best time). Have had a hankering to cruise
the Inside Passage from Vancouver north to Alaska and back for many a year now. But, other places have beckoned more loudly until now. Thanx for the offer of more info. Will keep it in mind when the time comes.curtiejoe

CurtieJoe - we booked on Lindblad for June/July 2007, Juneau-to-Sitka. We're very excited and looking forward to it, even though our budget went out the window in the first few weeks of planning. We'd started out looking at Celebrity, Holland America and Princess, then we considered Cruise West, then we fantasized about American Safari, and then, coming back to reality, weighed Cruise West and Lindblad for a while before finally booking Lindblad. It's a little more $ than Cruise West, but includes our activities and also seemed a bit more our style. Let me know if you decide to book!

Hi kboojd
Wish we we're going with you on that Lindblad cruise in June to Alaska. I too have done a lot of online research into the various cruise lines that ply the waters of the Inside Passage to Alaska and found that I was very impressed by the Lindblad offerings. Bon voyage!

We've done five Alaska trips...two on NCL, two on Holland America, and one on a smaller ship that Id rather not name. As afar as a ship is concerned NCL was just great. We sailed both times on the NCL STAR. Its fast enough to do the round trip to Seattle in a week, and yet you see most of the great sights. Wereally like the ten different restaurants, the lack of pretension, the lack of dressing up and no set tables or meal times. We do not like all the sales pitches for drinks, classes, photo's, ect. we and many others have commented, and they tell us they will cut them way down.
Holland America has an advantage also in that you can combine a cruise with a great shore trip via bus and dome rail. This way you see the REAL Alaska...we enjoyed our cruise/tour.
The small ship experience was dreadful..advertised as getting up very close...that is true..but the food, service, atmosphere and surliness of the crew made us want to leave the trip in the middle...never again!

Hi... has anyone out there booked an upcoming ALASKA cruise on the Holland America Noordam ETD Seattle July 22nd? I'm on it andthought if one of the community members was also traveling onthe ship, it would be fun to get together and put a face behind the "type"...
