Re: Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Taos sights and dining
hi judiadg,
GREAT SUGGESTIONS for Santa Fe... you really do know the city well. I have been to all of the places you have recommended and I would second all of them other than the Coyote Cafe as it is not as good as it used to be. I loved that you mentioned Jackalope... it is such a scream to go there. I've been dropping in to see what's new every year for the past 20+ years and have watched it grow from a funky little place to an outrageously funky large place that carries just about anything you might ever need! And I love checking out the animals there and getting my ristras (chili wreaths).

Thanks so much for your message. I've been lucky enough to work in Santa Fe twice for 3 months at a time so I lived in houses near Canyon Road and got to know the place very well, especially the galleries(my favorite Sunday afternoon stroll. My husband and I love it so much we plan to move there in the next few years. I'm so glad you reminded me about the ristras at Jackalope. I've got to get one for this year!
Take care,
Judi

Visited Santa Fe in August '07............................Inn & Spa at Loretto was wonderful place to stay/eat/lounge etc. BUT the Most Fabulous Meal my husband and I have every eaten in entire lives (age 61 & 56) was at Geronimo. So wonderful in fact that upon returning home to Baltimore I wrote a personal letter directly to the chef complimenting him. A most memorable meal and experience. And best of all.....neither of us could ever tell you what we ate. It was all just so great! Would fly back there to eat dinner and fly right back home if we had a private plane!! Enjoy!

Dear Paularec, You're so right about Geronimo. This is the most elegant dining experience in Santa Fe. The food is perfect and the service is impeccable. It's a splurge worth every penny. Their cookbook is very well done and a lovely remembrance to have of this beautiful restaurant.

IN Santa Fe they value local, seasonal, authentic foods and culinary traditions.Try butternut squash soup with herbed cheese dumplings, or cider braised pork shoulder with apples and caramilized onion. Those are my 2 favorite local food available in Santa Fe.

Thanks for your response. I always try to eat the local foods whenever and wherever I travel. That's one of the great things about traveling. What's the point of eating the same food when you're away as when you're at home? Thanks for the tip.

Thank you to all who offered tips about what we should see, do and eat in Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Taos! We're heading out tomorrow morning and I can't wait to tuck into some blue corn enchiladas with Christmas sauce while sipping a margarita.
