AMAZING $1 PER NIGHT HOTEL DEAL AT LASTMINUTETRAVEL.COM
I just discovered an amazing deal at lastminutetravel.com. Beginning Monday, January 26, the website will be offering rooms at any of their 15,000 hotels at only $1 per night and participants are allowed to purchase up to seven nights at one hotel. The promotion goes from Monday through Friday for two weeks. The tricky thing about the promotion is that the deal is available for ony fifteen minutes each day. To find out in which fifteen minute period the rooms will be available, sign up for their e-mail newsletter and there will be clues in the newsletter. It sounds like a convoluted process, but it may be worth your while if you want to get a room in a nice hotel for a very, very low price.
I don't know if this will be anything like the recent Leading Hotels of the World debacle, but I certainly hope that it isn't. Very few people were able to book rooms through that promotion.
Anyway, if you're interested in the promotion, go to www.lastminutetravel.com and click on "The World For $1" in the upper right hand corner of the page. Read the rules since they're a bit complicated. I'm certainly going to try to book a room at some time during the promotion, but I'm curious to know of other people's success. Keep us posted.

The Piranha,
Thanks for sharing that with us. It not only sounds an amazing offer, but also sounds like fun too.l have not heard of that site before, but have heard of lastminute.com. Do you know if these are the same?I am already subscribed to lastminute.com. As you say, I hope it doesn't end up like luxury Hotels of the world fiasco. It will be interesting to see how it does all turn out. If it all works out well, then there will definately be some excellent bargains to be had.I, for one, will be keeping a close eye on how it pans out.
Good luck to everyone who is going to have a go at it. You must all keep us updated on how successful you are.

Re: AMAZING $1 PER NIGHT HOTEL DEAL AT LASTMINUTETRAVEL.COM
Mary-j, I compared the hotels in one city on lastminute.com and travellastminute.com and the former had many more listings than the latter. In addition, many of the hotels on travel.com are already sold out, even though the dates I checked are in August. I think it's safe to say that the two sites are different from each other. I'm definitely going to try to get a room next week. Let me know if you're successful and where you get a room. Good luck!

Unless they have put some serious investment into additional servers/traffic management, I imagine it will be the same as the Leading Hotels of the World.

Re: AMAZING $1 PER NIGHT HOTEL DEAL AT LASTMINUTETRAVEL.COM
The problem with this promotion, other than the fact that the website might not be able to handle the load, is that lastminutetravel.com isn't giving any hints as to what time they're going to run the promotion. I checked a lot of times during the day today, but I somehow missed the fifteen minute sales window. I'm very curious to know if anyone on Luxury Link was able to book a room. If so, where? Was the reservation process smooth?

Re: AMAZING $1 PER NIGHT HOTEL DEAL AT LASTMINUTETRAVEL.COM
Well, I came within seconds of nabbing a $1 room. I briefly walked away from my computer earlier this morning. When I returned, I refreshed the screen for lastminutetravel.com and there were two and a half minutes left in the sale window. I immediately typed in the destination, dates and number of people and clicked the submit button. The next screen was a list of the available hotels with descriptions but no names, but I knew which one I wanted by the hotel description. I clicked the book it button and by then the time had expired so I wasn't able to book my room.
Lastminutetravel.com has made it difficult but not impossible to book a room for $1. While it is true that the promotion is available for fifteen minutes each day, the fifteen minutes is broken down into two or three time periods, so users have significantly less than fifteen minutes in which to book their reservation. In addition, there are two short videos that pop up when users attempt to book a room, and these videos use up valuable time. I called the website and there is no way to bypass the videos. Once the hotel is chosen, buyers have to fill out their information, including credit card number, and the $1 deal isn't valid unless the entire transaction is completed within the alotted time. There is no way to do this before the promotion begins.
My advice to anyone who is trying to take advantage of this incredible promotion is to continually refresh your computer screen so you can begin your reservation process as soon as the clock starts. Prior to attempting this, you should look at each of the hotels offered in the area where you would like to stay. Even though the hotels are not named, you can very easily find out the name of the hotel by googling some key words in the description. During the time that the promotion is not running, i.e., all day except for fifteen minutes, room prices are given, but during the promotion all prices are $1. With a little bit of research and a lot of patience and luck, it is definitely possible to land a $1 room. Good luck!

Re: AMAZING $1 PER NIGHT HOTEL DEAL AT LASTMINUTETRAVEL.COM
Michael, it's much worse than trying to buy concert tickets. At least with concert tickets, you know what time to attempt your purchase. With this promotion, you have to keep checking the website and if you're lucky, you catch it at the beginning of the sales window, which can be very short. Once you catch the sales window, you have to enter all of your information as quickly as you can because the clock is running and may expire before the sale is completed. Also, the names of the hotels aren't given, so you have to remember which one you want by the description of the hotel.

More than 300 people have viewed my original post about the deal at lastminutetravel.com. Has anybody attempted to book a room? Has anybody been successful? The promotion continues today and tomorrow and Monday through Friday next week.
