Welcome back D and K.....I am now the next heading out on AA in a few weeks. I don't have Global entry or upgraded tickets. Let's see how my journey proceeds! I do have admirals club access so that will be a plus.....

O- we did go in the Admirals lounge in MIA and were not very impressed - the freebie food items were lousy! Some nice menu options if you wanted to pay. The United/Continental clubs I think are much better - many more free food items and no drink coupons like the admirals club has.
The admirals club is comfortable and I did peek into the shower rooms which would be nice if needed.

I did find out that you can not do TSA pre check if any of your flight segments are international - so your boarding passes only get stamped for pre check if flying domestic. It would have been nice to go through security without taking the shoes off, etc.!

K - I did know the rules, however nothing was clearly marked in MIA after you went through Global Entry - you had to look for the sign to see where to go and I did know to hand the customs guy the ticket but he said he did not want it - oh well, what can you do about a jerk!

It looks like American wants more time to try to come out of bankruptcy alone.


American Airlines' bankrupt parent has asked a judge to extend by six weeks, through March 11, the period in which it has the exclusive right to propose a plan to exit bankruptcy.

I like the new logo American Airlines has introduced.

Maybe I'll get to fly one of their new B-777s when they roll them out for service to South America.

Now if they can just get out of bankruptcy and not get involved with USAir, I could be very, very happy.

In one word: YUK. Two words: Piano keyboard.
It's "supposed" to incorporate US flag (as in USAir) under the AA name (IF they merge AA will be used).

AA has always been the last airline to make significant changes (maybe why they are still in bankruptcy) so I am guessing it's being propelled by pending merger/buyout (maybe USAir is behind the new livery?)

Mountie_we fly the 777 from BA to Miami. It is quite nice! It is also a day flight.

Why spend all that money to repaint the planes with a new logo - do they really think that will make folks impressed and want to fly on AA? IMHO, a total waste of $ for a company that wants to come out of bankruptcy intact - the Philly newspapers and news stations seem to really think the merger will happen and I think so too. Then United/Continental and AA/US Air can duke it out to see who is king. I guess Delta will have to try and find someone they can merge with and then there will be 3 big airlines and they can all gloat together while they raise prices ;-)
