I hope it will be similar to others. NW had a bad reputation as Northworst. Even tho several key NW execs came to DL, the operations have been mostly managed by DL standards. Similar with CO/UA. Continental didn't have the brand strength, but UA did. They are still working on single pilot and FA unions, so they fly separately. DL/NW cabin crews were kept separate for quite a long time, due to union and non-union. Once the FA's turned down the union, they began working together [eventually].

USAir has poor reputation but AA has the better name to counteract the past. Hence, the airline will be AA but controlled by Doug Parker. (If anyone can mess up AA, it will be him--there--I said it! His nickname is Engulf and Devour--remember Silent Movie? He tried his shenanigans with DL when they were in protection. He's still a snake [on a plane].)

kyshel, I feel badly for Mr. Horton who will be losing his job in the near future.

Oh well, guess he will have to lick his wounds and enjoy his $20 million 'out the door' bonus plus lifetime flight privileges.

I believe Tom had plans to leave "about the same time" as the merger. Hey, these CEO's aren't stoopid. In the airline business, parachutes are essential...

I think Tom Horton isn't quite done yet. US Airways CEO Doug Parker will be CEO of the new company, which will be called American Airlines Group Inc. Horton will serve as chairman for about a year before stepping down. It is said that Horton will get $9.94 million in cash and an equal amount in stock in the new company after the merger. He'll also get an office and office help for two years, and lifetime flight and travel benefits. Not a bad deal.
