DH--when did you get your GE? You will LOVE it!!
Did they give you a "genuine faux leather passport/ticket case"? I didn't know they were going to take a photo, but if I ever get kidnapped, that's probably what I'll look like when they search for me...
My husband didn't get a card but I never asked him if they took a photo for file. He didn't get a case, but was waiting for me, so the officer gave me 2. His GE number is nothing like mine, which I found odd. You can use that number for trusted traveler entry on check-in, too. and NO forms to complete on the inbound flight! (unless you have customs to declare)
Congrats and enjoy!"wherever you go, there you are"

K...that is too funny. (Remember Erma Bombeck's book..."when you start looking like your passport photo, it is time to go home!")

I got my GE a few months ago. No faux leather book though ;-(
They did take our pictures and put a little sticker in our passports. Both our numbers are close. I did put the number on our flight reservation so I will see how that works - they keep talking about a separate, easier line for check in, however, they also say it is subject to staffing so I am not betting on the separate line for check in! We can not wait to come back through customs and just scan our passports - the last few times we came back to the USA, the lines were horrible! Just wish we could use these when checking in from other countries - that would be an added bonus - immigration lines getting into Costa Rica in March were terrible - it took us 1 1/2 hours after our flight landed to clear immigration - not pleasant at all.Roam if you want to, roam around the world...........

Yes - we got such a good deal that we could not pass it up. In fact, most of our recent Latin American flights have been in business 1st/1st. The deals I managed to find were pretty good and with the great LL packages, we could afford to splurge!

Please do share how you find these great deals on business. We will be flying back first class from San Juan to Charlotte and then on to Harrisburg. (WEO) as we come home in September from Virgin Gorda. We used FF points. (its a milestone birthday for me also!)

06-21-2012, 03:54 AMUnfortunately, I think you will find American American is using their old B757s on this route to SJO. Don't over inflate your expectations for their front of the plane experience.
It should provide you with a bit larger seat but not much in the way of upgraded service on the short flight.

Hi K....We will be on USair. I know it won't be that much difference however, it is still a nice little perk!!

I have never flown business/1st to any where other than Latin America so I have yet to experience the really fancy 1st class that airlines use to Europe, Asia, etc., however, just being out of coach and all the accompanying headaches these days is perk enough for me! Our flight from Philly to Miami is about 3 hours and then Miami to SJO is about 2 hours - so at least will get food. I never have found any good deals on USair - I find them to always be higher priced - maybe they are good to the Carribbean but never to Latin America. Our tickets to Costa Rica in November are around $850 which was actually not that much higher than they were charging for coach. I miss Continental - I always got great deals on 1st from them! The prices are so much higher since they merged ;-(

denise, recently, AA has been using B757s on the MIA-SJO routes.
Last time I was on one of these, it had not been reconfigured with new seating.....so the front of the plane utilized the same typing of seats found on their domestic first class....no extra bells and whistles, no lay-flat seats, no video......but, it's a short flight and the service is 'attentive' and includes free booze.....of course, your boarding pass permits you entrance in their Admiral's Club.
Your flight out of MIA will likely depart from Concourse D and you will have the option of using either of their clubs in that concourse (I prefer the club by Gate D-30....it is huge, usually pretty good service and you'll probably receive two free drink coupons when you show your boarding pass to enter).
Additionally, you will have priority boarding.....which is nice to be aboard first and secure your overhead bin, but better to be first off in SJO to shorten your time at immigrations.
Take some photos of you club experience!- Ω -
