Lets place some bets! Merger or no merger - I say yes they will merge.
Just as long as I can get to and from CR in November without having to add any extra dates, I will be happy.
Work is so crazy busy right now and I made it through another round of lay offs so really can not complain. I have the 5 nights in CR and then my 2 weeks in NIca for March 2013 (although my boss has not approved these dates yet;-( ) not too worried since I have the time available and the hubby works for one of the big car rental conglomerates ( in their construction equipment side) and his business is looking a bit shaky - economy recovering - don't think soRoam if you want to, roam around the world...........

We fly American to Argentina in December. I think we will be fine. No worries from me about my travels. I have a whole list of other things to worry about right now!

08-01-2012, 06:04 AMdenise, it's been several weeks since you have reported any flight changes in your upcoming trip to Costa Rica. Do you think American Airlines has misplaced your email address?

I lost internet connection at home -fried by lightening and so busy in work have not had a chance to get online here! Hopefully Verizon will have home connection fixed by 8/4.
Article in Phila. Inquirer today (8/3) US Air really, really wants American - they just purchased a fairly large amount of AAs debt and are now one of the unsecured folks in the AA bankruptcy proceedings and are entitled to all AAs financial documents, etc. AA CEO still saying they would like to come out of the bankruptcy as an independent company but looking more like this merger may happen.Roam if you want to, roam around the world...........

It would be an interesting merger. Great for the East Coast Regional airports. We have lost many AA flights but have a nice selection of USAir flights. This might open more markets to us! Good luck with your computer. Watch your schedules! Some of them seem to change in the beginning of the month. My Lanchile changed by 5 minutes...weo!

Fewer Airlines
Fewer airlines = less competition
Less competition = fewer choices
Less competition = higher fares
Less competition - not good for consumersLife is too short.........travel now!

jmbklj - that is the same point I have been trying to make!
What ever happened to the anti-trust laws we were supposed to have!
Maybe good for the airlines bottom line but not for the flying public.
Continental used to have the best fares to Mexico & Latin America and maybe options for flight times, etc. and they had a pretty good reputation. Since their merger with United - fares are way, way up, customer service stinks, less flights, much more crowded flights and the old Continental employees absolutely hate the merger - the ones I have spoken with say United treats their employees horribly - cutting benefits, etc.
If AA and US Air merge then Philadelphia will not have much choice - US Air already carries about 75% of the passengers and if they add AA they will really control Philadelphia flights.Roam if you want to, roam around the world...........

This might be true for paying customers. However, if the merger with USAir goes through, and the frequent flyer miles of both carriers and their alliances stay in tact, this will be a great plus for East Coast/European customers. It will open up so many more possibilities and routes to Europe.
