Re: ANOTHER Airline question!!
Thanks for summarizing. Sounds good but $450 is a lot especially with us not travelling on business. Though, it does look like you can mix the points and the credit card dollars together which is nice. I guess I'm back to my original USair and AA card! (Still want to investigate Delta a little farther!)
Re: ANOTHER Airline question!!
BonnieJoy3--that platinum card does have some great bennies but it is pricey up front. The regular Skymiles card is fee free first year--I think $65 subsequent years. So, realistically, you could probably get one free ticket or upgrade miles without paying the annual.

Press release regarding the new shopping website, where you can earn Skymiles with the Amex card...just sweetened the pot?
Re: ANOTHER Airline question!!
Hello,
If the AmEx Platinum fee is too steep, you can go with one of their rewards cards (there are green and gold ones as well) which are designed to maximise the number of membership rewards points you get. The fees are closer to about $100 a year which is comparable to your current cards and you won't be tied to a specific airline.
Go to card selector section on the AmEx website and search for cards which focus on membership rewards points to see the various options.
Cheers,
Julian
