A fanatsic art exibit opened at the Neue Galerie today. GUSTAV KLIMT
I saw a BBC documentary about the the family that fought the Austrian government for their property confiscated during WW II. I was happy for the family to finally receive their legacy, but sad to see the art auctioned off to private collectors. Now some of these works are available at the Neue Gallerie. Great post! Somehow I've totally been missing that museum. Love Klimt and will definitely go to check it out.
For the visitor that is looking for something random, here's another Art NYC tidbit. I always forget how unique it is to have Sotheby's and Christies so close by which both have exhibitions before auctions. I adore taking a look regardless of whether I'm in the market. Sometimes, it's Jewelry and Watches.

They have special events as well for clients, but if you're just passing through, it may be more convenient to just take a look at the calendar.
Thanks May! You have the best suggestions. I never think about going to Sotheby's and Christies either. They do have some fine exhibitions and I have been around to any in years. I don't get into the city like I used to and find my time there, so precious.

Thanks! It occurred to me the other day as a lot of the Modern Asian art auctions/exhibits are in Hong Kong or London for Sothebys. They also have an option in Milan which I am headed to through LL, but I am missing all the exhibitions by a day :(.....
I have to work during the day, so I'm hoping one day to have my timing so I can actually sit in on a real official world-wide bidding auction. I've been to a few non-live ones at fundraisers, but I've never been to one like you see in the movies.
