Any feedback on Casa Palopo?
There had been a lot of activity on the Casa Palopo auction. Has anyone used the package yet? We will be going in February and we were hoping to hear some feedback. Thanks.

Re: Any feedback on Casa Palopo?
BonnieJoy--take a look at this info about the Lake area:
http://www.adventurestudy.com/publications.htm
We spent a little time at Posada de Los Encuentros (encounters) and they offer tours out of Panajachel (as well as rooms). You can contact either Richard (book's author) or his gudie, Christian, thru the hotel website: www.losencuentros.com
Are you going to drive to Santa Catarina or get transfers? I recommend the French restaurant in town--can't recall the name (Spanish for lake reed), but everyone local knows "Guy" (chef and paraglider)
There are also plenty of yoga/crystal/spiritual type centers around, too--massages, so on.
Since it's one of the most important "energy vortices" in the world, you may find that of interest.
If you're looking for a local guide in that area, you can ask Christian @ Los Encuentros or Guy to put you in contact with a fellow named Ashad. Christian will remember my sister and me (maybe Guy will, too--my sister went to paraglide but winds were not co-operative)
Hope that helps. You can send a PM if you need more details."wherever you go, there you are"

Re: Any feedback on Casa Palopo?
Hi K! Thanks so much. I will definitely take you up on the offer. I will send you a PM to gather more info. We are using Elizabeth Bell (antigua tours) to coordinate the transfers and other hotels. We have no trips planned for the lake so would like ideas/guides. We do have a one day lake tour included in our LL package. I really am looking forward to the trip. The only negative is that AA changed our flight schedule so our last night will not be spent in Antigua (we were going to visit some new friends). We will now have to stay over in Guatemala City. (have you stayed over there?) We will be able to stop in Antigua for Lunch on our drive back from the lake.

Re: Any feedback on Casa Palopo?
kyshel, when you previously provided the same information, I totally forgot to share the quote from the email thefolks at adventurestudy.com sent, afterI questioned the printeddisclaimer on their brochure:
Their disclaimer:
The price of hikes includes drinking water, snacks and the cost of water/road transportation. Hikers are responsible for their own clothing and carry packs. No special equipment is needed. Some hikes carry a small risk of robbery. As your security is a special concern to us, we carefully select routes and discretely manage our schedules to minimize the likelihood of attracting thieves. However, nothing in life is completely safe and there is always an extrarisk when carrying valuable items along.
I must admit, I did chuckle when they replied with the following explanation.
"The 'disclaimer' in our broschure is created to keep up awareness."- Ω -
