Anybody headed to the Olympics? Anybody ever been to any Olympic games?

Having just attended some of the Olympic Track Trials in Eugene, I was wondering if anybody is heading to London for the Olympics? Has anybody attended any Olympic events? If so, what were your impressions? Was it worth the added expense of travel and lodging to see such a great event?

My nephew placed 5th in hammer throw at the trials. We're extremely proud. Even tho he won't be competiing, he'll be at the games. One of his sponsors, Otterbox, is taking them. My sister and her husband will be attending, too. I've never been and don't plan to go becuase of the "mayhem" that goes with hordes. I prefer watching from the comfort of home! I'm not a huge fan of London, either.

Congratulations on your nephew's showing at the Trials. It's great that Otterbox is taking him even though he didn't qualify. (My wife and I own Otterboxes and we're even bigger fans now!). I agree that it's a lot less of a hassle to watch in the comfort of my own home, but I have to disagree with you about London. It's one of the world's greatest cities. Fantastic museums, great ethnic food, tons of history, and amazing theater.
