Argentina, anyone?

We're looking at a brief excursion to Buenos Aires this month. Has anyone stayed at the Alvear Palace? The LL pricing is excellent and applying a gift certificate makes it much more tantalizing. Tripadvisor reviews are extremely favorable.
If anyone has specific suggestions or activities, please advise!

kyshel...we haven't stayed there but we have received very good reports from friends who have. We have placed the Alvera Palace on our "Bucket List" and it is moving toward the top.

I just saw the listing. What a fabulous deal. The hotel is amazing, the location is perfect. Stayed there about 2 years ago, and the cost was way, way, way more than what the bid price is. B.A. is an fabulous city, go you will not regret it. In fact, after writing this I think I might bid on it myself.

Yikes everyone. We are roughly planning a trip to South America for year end and saw this deal and couldn't believe the price. I would bid on it but we still haven't firmed up Argentina. I hope it is still offered during the year. I don't want to regret not bidding on it like the Orient Express trip to Macchu Pichu!!! Go for it K!!!! Looks great!!!

We plan to go to BA this comng weekend and I did get a fabulous deal on a rather luxurious looking boutique hotel. Not quite the Alvear Palace, to be sure, but AP sent me an offer for nearly the same

"suite " pkg for $800/night plus 21%,so the LL deal is more than a deal!! The best priced LL pkg is not avail until April 1 but I have a feeling we're going to like BA and return adding a trip to Iguacu Falls.

PS--the hotels I contacted gave much better pricing when requested. One for cash discount of 30% and the other 20% flat (cash or CC)

There are some really lovely small hotels in BA. Maybe LL can get some sighned up!! it may be a long flight from the States, but most arrive noon and don't depart until evening, so there's always that last day to squeeze in just a little more...The wine regions are getting some recent press-- could be a great package potential!! (are you reading, LL??--hope so!!)

Hey, have a great trip. What is the name of the hotel you are staying in? We have been to Ba several times. The Park Hyatt is another fabulous hotel that offers great deals on their website.

Thanks Mauro! we are between choices of Art Apts (recoleta) and Jamsuites (san telmo/recoleta). All of the ones we wanted were booked but I'm certain we will return to enjoy the Alvear Palace package--we'd be crazy not to!!
There are so many incredibly lovely properties in that city!!

kyshel, how was the Delta flight from Atlanta to Buenos Aires? Did you manage to fly Business/Elite?

We flew Delta with miles in Business.Would not want to do it in coach but I guess I am spoiled. Wish Delta had flat beds but the seats are comfortable. It is a late night flight and it is long. The service in Delta isnot as bad as some not as good as others the food is eatable, which is all you can hope for nowadays.
