Re: Argentina, anyone?
we're just packing to leave our apartment in Recolete---taking a last-minute trek aorund the neighborhood to see Evita's burial site and museum house. It's a lovely, user-friendly city (and, we did leave some beef for the next carnivores!!!) We return tonight in business again (thanks for asking jsat--it was long but comfy). More to report later!

Re: Argentina, anyone?
Hi K and Welcome Home. How was the weather? Would you recommend this time of year to visit? Many tourists or do you think the economy has affected travel? How was the exchange rate and purchasing power? Thinking of you while in Guatemala watching the para gliders over Lake Atitlan!!

Re: Argentina, anyone?
Glad to see you're back from Guate! Looking forward to the report.
Our weather in BsAs was very warm (80's) The exchange was super at 3.5 pesos/dollar and prices are low. Foods, taxis, wines, all well-priced. Museums are very cheap 1-2 dollars entry and boutique hotels can range from $75-$300 average, some very nice apartments less than $100/night. We had a showers last afternoon on the way to the airport. I would go back and combine a trip to the country. We stopped into the Alvear Palace and it's sort of like entering an opera house foyer. The lobby bar is staggeringly gorgeous--I could just picture the elite sipping cocktails and sashaying about in gowns and furs and tuxedos. The location would not be my preference since it's in the very city center but taxis are so east and cheap. You can walk easily to some of the centro areas and the plazas. It's not as big a city as say, Rio, and certainly much safer and easier to negotiate. Very friendly people with great patience for my poor Espanol...."wherever you go, there you are"
