ASSIGNMENT OR DONATION OF AUCTION ITEMS
Community Members...there have been several questions in other threads regarding the possibility ofpurchasing of Luxury Link auction items and using them as charitable donations. Since we have not received a response from any of the Moderators, we decided to contact Customer Service for clarification. According to Nancy Taylor whoheads upCustomer Service for Luxury Link, it is permissible to purchase an auction item and offer it as a charitable donation. It is the responsibility of the initial purchaser to contact Luxury Link and supply them with the name and contact informationof the ultimate consumer. Anyone contemplating using an auction item for this purpose or desiring additional clarificationwould be well served to contact Nancy Taylor, by telephone or email.

Re: ASSIGNMENT OR DONATION OF AUCTION ITEMS
Hello O,
Wow, one day away from LL and so much has happened! Many thanks for getting a definitive answer to this question. I'm certainly going to look into this for my next fund-raising event for the charities I'm involved with. Being in the UK makes a lot of the short city break packaged to Europe very attractive, and even Africa is just an overnight flight away.
Things like this are one of the great things about this community -- thanks again for sharing!
Cheers,
Julian

Thanks so much for the clarification. While I had hoped this was the case, it is great to hear from LL about the donation of trips or items to charity...hopefully mine! Cheers...Marolyn

Re: ASSIGNMENT OR DONATION OF AUCTION ITEMS
What great news! Do you think notifying LL of the eventual consumer would also work for the purchase of packages for friends and family? I would enjoy traveling with friends and since I have more free time and flexibility - I would purchase packages for others use. We could then travel together. I would just coordinate.I will use this for charitable puposes also Thanks O for your determination in getting an answer and follow through. You are a great asset to theLL community!

Re: ASSIGNMENT OR DONATION OF AUCTION ITEMS
funtimes...Nancy Taylor, Customer Service for LL, told me people often buy auction packages and then for any number of reasons cannot use them. They end up selling or giving them to friends, familyor associates. In these case, the original purchaser simply needs to inform Nancy of the name of the individual who will be the eventual user of the package. No problems. Sounds like you can buy packages for friends andsimply give the names to Nancy.

This is great information! Thank you. I've often thought about purchasing an LL package as a gift, but the fundraising thing never occured to me. I'll remember that going forward.

Re: ASSIGNMENT OR DONATION OF AUCTION ITEMS
Hi everyone,
This also works if you like to travel with friends as we just did. I just auctioned 2 packages of the hotels we wanted, one after the other. I did inform the hotel that we wanted 2 rooms for the same dates and gave the hotel the name of our friends. The trick is to work closely with the hotel. The hotel generally does not care if the packages are made out to XX rather than XY, as long as they know you have paid for two packages, they don't really care who uses them.

Re: ASSIGNMENT OR DONATION OF AUCTION ITEMS
Thanks O and LH This is exactly what we like to do - I was unaware of the opportunity to purchase more than one package in order to travel with friends. Live & Learn Now we know so thanks to LL many great travels and memories are in store. Being fairly new at this - our 1st puchase at LL auction was a private villa in Tuscany that we will be sharing with our friends. My wonderful friend and I both have important birthdays - ending in zero- coming up. What a treat to celebrate like this! ...Funtimes

Re: ASSIGNMENT OR DONATION OF AUCTION ITEMS
Hi funtimes,
Sounds like you got your villa in Tuscany covered since the package seemes to be for 4 people. Best Buy auctions are no problem when there are more than 2 packages available. With auctions it can be a little tricky since you can only bid for one auction at a time. This is where working closely with the hotel comes in. I usually call the hotel, tell them of my intention to bid on the auction package, ask if they have availability for the dates I want and then tell them I need two rooms. After I secured one package, I make the resevation for the dates we want, and then tell the hotel I still need the second room for the dates we just made reservations for and tell them I will be bidding on the next auction for our friends. This worked just fine for the Italy trip with friends we just completed . I have found the hotels to be very accommodating. However, there is no guaranatee that the hotel will hold the room indefinitely till you win the second auction, or that LL is putting the auction package up time after time...
Good luck.

Re: ASSIGNMENT OR DONATION OF AUCTION ITEMS
Great information LH! You must be a gambler - the single auctions get my adrenaline going just by having other bidders. I can imagine my nervousness if I had to wait for LL to put the same property up again. it seems that does happen quite frequently though so good strategy. Thanks again for the tips...Funtimes
