Bradio--I am even greener--adding Egypt!! I went 2 times in the 90's and loved nearly everything. guess my only issue is the typical tourist harassment. Please do not exclude Abu Simbel--it was one of the most astonishing places to see. There were a few sights I could have passed on, but I have yet to go to Alexandria, so we're planning 2 sep trips in the next year to cover a Nile cruise and a short 3 day to see just Cairo.

bradio, we did spend several nights at Elsa's Kopje a few years back.....you will likely see fewer animals here in Meru National Park than in the other locations you will be visiting (unfortunately much of the wild life was desimated many years back due to poachers and bandits out of neighboring Somalia).

The good news is the Kenyan government has taken a proactive stance with increased protection of the wild life in Meru and the present and future are looking brighter.

That said, you will likely find your time at Elsa's to be very special and one of the real highlights you will remember from your safari......you will appreciate a vast and remote wilderness in which you will encounter very few other humans.
