Baseball Vacations
I never see LL offerings for packages including sporting events such as baseball or basketball. I realize these packages would be very time specific, but it would be fun to see packages put together that include hotels and specific sporting events such as a weekend trip to New York including baseball game tickets or something like that. My husband and son are sports junkies, and purchasing a package like that would be the perfect gift! Also how about a package that includes baseball Spring training (little late for this year, but how about next year?)

I second this. I would definitely bid on something like that!

Re: Baseball Vacations
Hi cmdavilacli. Great idea. We just returned from Phoenix and were able to enjoy a Spring Training Game. (Anaheim vs. Colorado.) What a nice idea if one of the properties in Phoenix/Scottsdale could add the tickets. Also, the tickets are not expensive. (unless you buy them the day of the game on the street!). I would also imagine that most concierges in big cities would have access to games. For example, Philadelphia or Baltimore. The only problem might be the coordination of dates of travel with game dates. Sometimes the smaller cities such as Lancaster PA or Harrisburg PA have local "farm" teams. These baseball tickets would also serve as a "fun" addition to the hotel stay.

Hi Bonniejoy03,
I've been trying to get down to Spring Training in Arizona, but by the time the schedule is posted, everything always seems to be snatched up... so how did you do it?

Re: Baseball Vacations
HiCathy: Well, it was difficult. My sister lives in Phoenix so that helps. However, for this trip we really dragged our feet and weren't sure if we wanted to go to a game. By the time we decided, it was almost too late. We wanted to stay local and not go up to Scottsdale. There were tickets at some of the other stadiums on the day we wanted. We worked with our concierge for tickets. Because we had no luck for the stadium we wanted, we drove to the ticket office. Along the way, there are alot of people selling tickets. I don't know if this is the right thing to do however, we did it and bought the tickets off the street. If you really want to do it right, contact your concierge before you go and tell them your time frames. They typically have access to more tickets.
PS- This game was wonderful. Beautiful blue skies, small crowd, lots of excitement. The players are signing autographs, etc. I would highly recommend going. Our friends go to Florida to watch more of the East Coast teams and love it also.

Re: Baseball Vacations
Thanks, bonniejoy03 for the info... I think the trick is to plan the trip in advance to get the hotels, and then once the schedule of games is posted, ask the hotel to secure the tickets. One of these years we will get there!

Fabulous idea! I'd go for these. I've only been to a few of the major league parks and I'd love to visit more. I'm sure Curtiejoe will talk me into seeing the Blue Jays one of these days. And I can highly recommend taking in a Dbacks game if you're visiting Scottsdale/Phoenix. The BOB (Bank One Ballpark when I was there, but I think they may have since changed the name) is a great place to see a game.

Re: Baseball Vacations
Great idea ! I think any type of sporting packages really save time and money especially if LL has some type of partnership with a sports ticket agency or Ticketmaster. I have traveled for events like baseball in the past and know many who are always in search of these types of "themed" vacations. This past super bowl was a perfect example of how a hot sporting event became the most sought after travel event we've seen with packages going for record breaking prices on some other auction sites. This should just be an indication of how people will travel to see an event, so hopefully LL will take note and maybe add these to the mix !
