01-03-2012, 08:30 PMBest hotel toiletries?
Do we have a thread on this already? I searched and didn't find anything but it seems familiar.
Conde Nast Traveler just did an article on best hotel toiletries--and said that my favorite new brand Le Labo is coming out in Fairmont hotels! I see a Canadian trip to a Fairmont hotel coming up in my future!
Previous fave was on my LL trip to the James hotel in Chicago--lovely Kiehl's products and the maids would give out as many as you wanted.
Any votes for fave freebie toiletries?

I love Kiehls and L'Occitane.
The Lumina in Mexico City had some great local products but I can not remember the name of the product line ;-(

I have a basket of goodies for guests! (well, I use them, too)
I love the body scrub we got in Hong Kong Langham Hotels--I squeezed them in my ziploc bag to bring home. Hermes has some really potent fragrances like Eau D'Orange Vert--memories of Mateya Safari Lodge and the raised marble tub...watching ellies at the watering hole...
Hacienda Tres Rios has private brand that feels/smells FAB! Even Boss noticed their products and commented."wherever you go, there you are"

I know what you mean about the Hermes Orange - I had a towlette of that fragrance that I used on a plane trip -big mistake - everyone could smell it - I think I gave the whole cabin a headache with that one towelette!

We also have a collection of 'pickups' in a guest bedroom bath and powder room, which we gladly share. It seems those by L'Occitane are most frequently chosen by our guests.
However, we don't share the ones we treasure by Parisian perfumer, Blaise Mautin, who has created a scent (patchouli) exclusively for the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme....our favorite. We also keep the ones from the Park Hyatt Washington DC (violets).
I can't recall the name of the toiletries line used at Aranwa Sacred Valley Hotel & Wellness Spa, but it was unique. The housekeeping staff was generous with their daily resupply.- Ω -

I'll take the contrarian position and state that I prefer to stay in hotels that have wall-mounted soap, shampoo, conditioner, hand lotion, etc., dispensers. This is a far more ecological choice than individually wrapped and bottled toiletries.

You begin to see the wall-mounted soap, shampoo and conditioners more and more, even in good hotels. I am not opposed to this solution since it helps me not to stuff my luggage with the extra weight of these amenities, especially, when the help is freely dispensing them....
I did enjoy the Hermes bottles.

01-05-2012, 07:24 PM[email protected], because of you post, I actually checked my travel supply and pulled a couple of L'Occitane's shampoos this evening and have placed them in the bath for tomorrow.

01-09-2012, 10:12 AMI still have a couple of bars of soap from the Motel 6 of I-75, just before you cross the Georgia/Florida line. Can they make the bars any smaller?
Also, a word about the fragrance; even my dogs refuse to let me use that soap when I wash them. On the other hand, I like washing with it, seems like the cashiers at the truck stops give me quicker counter service. Guess they want me away as quickly as possible.
