Re: BEST LUXURY LINK DEAL?
I hadn't posted about my best deal either because I've only bought one package yet. I also haven't used it, yet. I already had trips planned when I bough it last fall and my husband won't go away in the winter. I'll be going in early May and doing some hiking there.
The price was fantastic if the reviews are true about The Weathersfield Inn, in Vermont. It's 4 nights, including a 5 course tasting dinner, an option of activities, skiing for two days, golf for two days or a 90 min massage for two. I got it for only about $525.00.
Of course I will blog about it after I go and I plan to take pictures too.
Right now I'm watching all the auctions for Florance and Venice, Italy.
I'll let you know by the end of the year which of them are the best deal. ;)

Re: BEST LUXURY LINK DEAL?
Hi Mountie,
Do you mean to say you only discovered the LL auctions site after the forum was started, or did you want to know about Best LL Deals with the $500 Gift Certificates. The $500 Gift Certificates in themselves were a great deal. LL has been around for quite some time. In any case, there are many good deals on LL, but what was a great deal a year ago, is not necessarily a good deal anymore this year, especially in Europe where the Euro is killing us and prices have risen quite steeply. Also keep in mind, some properties sign off after an initial offer with LL and are no longer available after a while. So when you see a good deal, don't wait too long. I hope you will find your dream deal on LL, so keep looking - it's out there. Good Luck!
Re: BEST LUXURY LINK DEAL?
imbues and LL-Travelfan, I travel a lot, both for business and for pleasure. I do some travel to Europe for business, maybe once or twice a year and I stay a couple of days extra at my own expense. I fully understand the weakness of the Dollar vs the Euro. The purpose of my starting this thread is to get as many of the community members to post their LL best deals. I understand that offers come and go and some may never reappear. However, I would enjoy hearing about what the members think was their BEST LUXURY LINK DEAL and I will go through the list and see if I agree it might be of interest to me and then if it is available available.
I'm not at all worried about finding something interesting for use of my $500 VIP Certificate. I know I can find something and, yes, I know the fact I was awarded the certificate already constitutes a GREAT DEAL!
Re: BEST LUXURY LINK DEAL?
mountie, I think you're making a smart move gathering as much information as possible before spending your $500 VIP Certificate. Why not ask the veterans of LL about their best deals? Who would know better than they? I'm taking my time and considering all options before I spend my $500 certificate!
Re: BEST LUXURY LINK DEAL?
the best deal i won was a stay at Carcosa Seri Negara, Malaysia last November. My fiance and I stayed there for 5 nights. we decided to have a wedding party there on our 4th night, with our families flying in from australia and USA...Shah thehead butler and Amaline our personal butler did everything possible to organise our malay style wedding in 2 days notice and Bernard the banquets organiser did so well with theexquisite food we had on our menu. The hotel staywas fascinating, we saw where Queen Elizabeth used to stay, and we almost had the whole place to ourselves which was fun. The experience wasthe best I have had, i can compare it to my stays at principe de savoia hotel in Milano or hotel raphael in Paris but only A LOT more friendlier...and for the price we got on luxury link I will never buy a holiday anywhere else.one would never expect to be in the heart of KL with all the lush tropical gardens surrounding us. The staff were terrific and pleasant at all times spoiling us to the max.we had the best time, we are talking about it until today...i wish there would be more offers in malaysia to bid for soon
Re: BEST LUXURY LINK DEAL?
hi! just came back from weathersfield inn and was wondering if you (anyone) has been there yet? must say i sure wish i had only paid $500+ ($799 for me) as we were slightly underwhelmed. having been on 2 LL pkgs so far: bermuda and nemacolin, we were somewhat surprised (or does that read disappointed?) in WI. Innkeepers are quite pleasant and food very good but luxury accomodations?? Not in my book. Was average really. We did the 2 days golf and it was a typical public course pretending to be a "country club". Not the worst experience ever by far but surely not a LL highlight for me. Am off to Prospect Plantation in Jamaica in Oct taking all our children and have high expectations. Would be a real bummer if PP was like WI. Love to hear other thoughts. I still can't figure out how LL decided to include this property. oh, well it surely could have been worse!! paularec
Re: BEST LUXURY LINK DEAL?
Hi paularec,
We stayed at the Weathersfield in May and I agree with you. Fortunately for us we only paid $525 and could not complain with a free dinner, breakfast daily and 2 massages for that little. I won't say much more about it because I expect to write a blog about it soon.
Re: BEST LUXURY LINK DEAL?
One of the best deals is the mystery auction dated 7/21. Anyone who pays less than $1000
is getting a great buy. Granted, getting visas and getting to the destination airport are a bit tricky and can be $ but in combo with a visit to other parts of that country...trip of a lifetime!
Re: BEST LUXURY LINK DEAL?
kyshel, not necessary to speak Portugese or bring along Cheeta The Chimp from those old B&W Tarzanmoviesto have fun?
Re: BEST LUXURY LINK DEAL?
Eu falo Portugese, but they have so many monkeys running around the place, you can leave Cheeta at home. Most of the staff knows enough English for service needs and main staff speaks it well. A few amenity words go far there--particularly if you get the gender correct!
One of the other Tarzan House residents woke with all her deck chairs occupied by the larger simians. One morning they all clung to the bathroom screen wall when she showered.
Now that's a prim[ate] example of natural voyeurism!!
It's truly one of the best places I've been. So much to do!
