Re: BEST LUXURY LINK DEAL?
The best deal I have gotten on LL was for the Lapa Palace in Lisbon, this past November. The price was roughly $550 for 3 nights, including breakfast and dinner. The rack rate/retail price for a single night without meals was more than this. I actually reserved it with the "book a la carte" function and not a regular auction. A great deal, a gorgeous hotel and a charming city....I was very happy!

Re: BEST LUXURY LINK DEAL?
Cruisinred--ARGHHHHHH I got outbid on my first auction (you guessed it, Lapa Palace) and it went way past the $550 you paid--that is truly an outstanding deal--considering the dinners, way over the top!! They only offer bfast in the pkg now. Tell me more--did the location throw you off? I was a bit surprised; when Lisbon is pretty easy to navigate, the location might be a bit daunting. What about the rooms? Please and thank you!
I adore Lisbon and can't wait to take my husband. Sadly, it's not enough of a market for Delta YET--but with the prices in most of Europe, maybe it will be possible some day?"wherever you go, there you are"

Re: BEST LUXURY LINK DEAL?
mountie...that's a real tough question.
We discussed all of the trips we have purchased from LL and none of them involved bad or even average experiences.
If we had to pick just one, we would agree with claassenam regarding the Orient-Express Peru trip. We ended up paying a little less for the package than claassenam and also added some of extra days.
The two additional nights at the Sanctuary Lodge at Machu Picchu really developed into a very enchanting and magical time.....one evening after dinner, we actually gained access into the park and spent several hours "carefully" walking along the stairways as well as the terraced areas. On a dark night, with the absence of much ambient light and only a full moon to guide your way, Machu Picchu becomes another world.
Additionally, the availability of a driver, guide and private vehicle for the trip to the Colca Canyon gave that portion of the trip greater independence with opportunities to stop along the way for explorations.....while still enjoying O-E hospitality during the evenings.
We have stayed at nice properties in several countries and very few organizations understand and execute hospitality better than Orient-Express.
Perhaps this trip will become available again here in LL at some future time......if you see it, don't miss the opportunity to seize it!Last edited by omegaet; 03-16-2013 at 08:53 AM.

Re: BEST LUXURY LINK DEAL?
I thought about the trips I've won, and the best was to Sydney, Australia about 5 years ago. I cannot even remember the name of the hotel (the name changed and I think it is now a W hotel property). It was great... 5 nights for USD $400.00 (something around there) on the conceirge level in a spectacular room with a killer view. The bathroom was magnificent, with beautiful tub placed right next to a full length window overlooking the city lights and heavenly full sized Bulgari bath products...The rate included breakfast and, if I recall correctly, one night's dinner. A super bargain in a great city!

The best Luxury Linktrip was actually the first one we bought 7 years ago. It was magic- a 5 night guided tour of Capri. From the moment we stepped off the plane in Naples where a driver was waiting for us to bring us to the ferry to the moment we returned it was a dream come true.
The guide only took small groups maximum 12 and we were less than that so it was informal and personalized throughout. Activities were planned for each day, cultural as well as fun-filled. We could be visiting the blue grotto in the morning and be off on a yacht swimming in the Mediterranean in the afternoon. Dinner would last 3 hours in beautiful outside restaurants often surrounded by lemon trees.
It was exactly what one would expect from Luxury Link and more. A trip we shall forever cherish.

The best deal we found on Luxury Link was years ago, 7 nights , one dinner and one lunch at the haciendas in the Yucatan. These are Luxury Collection properties and fabulous. We had a fantastic time, upgraded food, gorgeous architecture, Mayan ruins wonderful properties 7 days for $700! Recently prices have been going up but we thought 3 nights at Bastide de Capelongue including dinner everyday (2 satr Michelin) was a bargain last summer at $679...unfortunately it has gone up since then!

LL_Travelfan, I'm still waiting to spend my first $500 VIP Certificate on one of the LL auctions. Believe me, as soon as I buy one and travel, I will be posting up a storm. That is one of the reasons I keep asking about the Best Luxury Link Deal others have made! I want my first deal to be a really great one!

Re: BEST LUXURY LINK DEAL?
Hi Mountie,
Lets have some fun trying to find you a package, eh?
I thought you live in Cali, your single and take a lot of business trips? Is this right?
Do you like the idea of a spa vacation with activities? The beach? A mountain ski getaway? Or a city get away with culture? Did you want to stay on your side of the world or go far away? You must have a lot of air miles saved like my brother does, it's time to use them and take a break.
