Bidding against community members

Come now Kyshel! You know I've done my fair share of LL packages. Generally though I'll only bid the opening auction bid. I rarely bid against others unless I really want that package.

In actuality whenever there has been another bidder, I generally loose. I do not have fast fingers to put in another bid. It can get really dirty in those last 5 minutes of bidding!

So no worries about me pushing up the bids needlessly

My response was in keeping with your quote above. If you meant something else, please clarify--it's pretty straight-forward, according to your words.

Oh. Well that's simple. There are three cases that I think are pretty common, at least for me. First, I've definitely seen packages that are too good pass up on price, but I'm not 100% confirmed I can do the vacaton within the time restrictions or that I can find someone to go with me. The remorse is that I end up sending my parents. Don't get me wrong. I love parents and it's usually a true treat for me to give them the gift of travel. But what remorse that I can not go myself!!

Case 2 is that I find a package that is wonderful. Then I find another package that is even more wonderful that I didn't see before I bid and that I might rather go on. In that case, the remorse comes by not having done more work before bidding.

Case 3 is that I bid on something that is regularly auctioned and; while still very reasonable; has been bid up. There the remorse comes from not having been more patient nad just waited for the new package to come up again.

The wink comes from your insinuation that I am often bidding on packages just for the purpose of bidding up the price with no intention of taking it. It's a hint that if you happen to actually be serious and try to bid aginst me on something that I really do want, I'm totally happy to bid with the best of them through the extended auction period for as long as it takes. I've lost in the past, but I have kept the auction open well over 1/2 hour after the close each time and called LL to try to extend even further when my server wasn't getting through.

But that's what makes it fun! Happy Bidding to all!!

Looks like your dictation software hasn't 'learned' to recognize your voice inflection yet (in your last post, it spelled "route" instead of "root"). Last year I was using Dragon Naturally Speaking 7 but found out the hard way that its speech recognition capabilities were not yet perfected (in proofreading my dictated work I found a lot od silly errors due mainly to phonetic misreadings of my speech patter). I was told that to be patient and that eventually the software would catch on to what I was saying...well, I couldn't wait and went back to keyboarding my input manually. Friends have told me that there are some other pretty good digital dictation software options available, including:
IBM's Via Voice 10Olympus Pro 4Web Dictate (shareware).
You may want to try these out. Good luck!

that's a really OLD post but NO--I have not changed my position. I just hope all the new members have their convictions and bids in order.

kyshel, some of the oldies are goodies when it comes to thread subjects, at least fromthe original group of members, many of whom have drifted away.



On topic, If I come across something of interest and I see another member of the community is bidding, I will drop them a PM and see how serious they are about buying it.



Without mentioning any name, there are members who love to stir it up a little and test the waters on those Mystery Auctions now and then. I'm guilty myself!
