Black Diamond Lines - Has anyone heard about this?

Fifty-one U.S. airports now have black diamond lines. These are traveler-selected lines intended to sort passengers by their degree of experience in going through security. Black Diamond lines are for frequent travelers, Family Lines for families with young or old members, and Green Lines for inexperienced travelers.

You don’t have to do anything to quality for one of these lines except know of their existence. Airlines often direct their frequent flyers members to the lines, which may be out of obvious view to the rest the traveling public. So ask when you arrive at an airport if they have these lines and choose the right one for you.

I saw the three line system at Logan Airport in Boston. After observing the system, it appears to me it only works as well as the individuals understanding and actual preparation.....the family lines users (those carrying several bags and tons of things to administer to the needs of their young ones were not in the green or black lines).

For reasons I couldn't quite understand, people were gravitating to the black lines (was it a status issue or an unwillingness to admit they were not frequent travelers).

I decided to go through the green line since it was shorter.

It's like ranking ski slopes with black diamond slopes being for the expert, experienced skiers. But it's a joke! We've had those lines here at CMH for a couple years. It usually ends up to be the opposite of what the signs indicated; that's when I use the green lines.

o, here too, all the newbies go to the "black expert" lines, like its some kind of frequent flier status thing. Crazy!

Too Funny!!! I haven't seen them at our regional airport. I agree with J....Sounds like a skiing situation!

Apparently, there are only 51 airports in the US that have those Black Diamond lines, so you might not have them at your local airport.

I have seen them in a number of airports, however, there have usually been staffing issues and the TSA rep just ends up directing everyone into the same line. I always go for the line that says experienced flyers but the rep just sends folks to whatever line is shortest so it never made a difference
