Re: Broken Promises By Airlines
why single me out for this post?
How in the world did you know I wanted to be a Braniff FA in the 70's??
I was too tall (even tho male FA's could be taller--hmmmm?)
Well, I guess it was g a good thing I didn't get the interview until several years later and poof! Braniff was gone with the wind...Maybe I should have applied with Pan Am?
Or maybe I should have been Pam Ann?

Oh yeah--I almost forgot--we're all supposed to be flying cars, right? Like people need another dimension to deal with when driving? They can't even deal with hot coffee and cel phones! yikes...

kyshel.....Pam Ann may have been rejected by BA, but I'm sure she may have snagged a job with DL.....I've seen her or her twin working DL 852.
Re: Broken Promises By Airlines
omegaet, what is the significance of the Braniff youtube video?
Re: Broken Promises By Airlines
t-2-f...let me ponder the significance for a bit and then there will be a follow up posting later...there may be other community members who will view the video and comment as well.
Re: Broken Promises By Airlines
What a bizarre look at the future! Reminds me of the spaceship in Wall-E - (did anyone see that? Fabulous movie!) - "there's no waiting...and very little walking." God forbid us humans would have to walk anywhere in the future! We'll all be fat and happy sitting on our personal conveyers. And doesn't that robot food (somehow ready at the push of a button) look tasty?
I'll take our current system, fees, problems and all, over that sterile, robotic, bizarro "future" anytime!

claassenam....the closest thing I can remember to the food service depicted in the Braniff youtube was available at the old Horn & Hardarts "Automats" in NYC..believe the last one was located on 3rd Aveand closed in 1991it was great funexchanging quarters into the coin slots for fresh food......one of old clients used to love to eat lunch therealways ordered their Chicken Pot Pie and the best cup of coffee in town.

Omegaet, great photo of Horn & Hardart's. I vaguely remember H & H from when I was a very little kid growing up in New York. My parents took me there once or twice and it was a big treat for us. Your photo reminds me of the food machines that they used to have about twenty years ago (I don't think that they still have them) in the subway stations in Zurich. After inserting your money and making a selection, a robotic arm would grab your food item, carry it to the door of the machine, and then put it down where you could get it. The machines were refrigerated and had everything from yogurt to sandwiches. At the time, I remember thinking that this was one of the coolest things that I had ever seen.
Re: Broken Promises By Airlines
...as I recall, what made the Automats popular, was the warm entrees were actually kept warm and the cold ones were cold....plus the food did taste good....but H & H finally caved in to thechanges in consumer dininginterests.
