Bvi vip club

Just back from Virgin Gorda and was so excellent to become an "official" member of the BVI VIP club. To become a member, you must provide proof that you have visited the BVIs for over 10 visits. You submit your passport stamps and then become a member. Our first surprise was when we arrived off the plane in Tortola; there was a woman on the tarmac with a sign welcoming us!! Pretty impressive! They then took us to a side room and offered us cool drinks and a place to relax and "chill." She then took our immigration forms and proceeded to check us in to the country while we relaxed. She presented us with a gift bag of mug, cup, beach ball, huggies, and a few other BVI gifts including the exclusive "BVI VIP card!! This card supposedly provides us with specials in the BVIs. What a warm welcome to the travel destination that we love! Now, each time before we visit, we notify them and should receive the same service......KUDOS!!!

bonniejoy03, everyone likes to feel special. The folks in Virgin Gorda should treat you well. After 10 visits, you have spent enough money to own a place there.

Thanks M. We feel like "belongers" at VG and Anguilla. No owning for us but it is always a nice thought! There are so many places for sale but we rather rent......

Ooh, Anguilla. Never been there but have heard such wonderful things! Any advice about the best hotel/resorts on the island? I've heard Malliouhana(sp?) and Cap Juluca are wonderful. Has LL ever offered either of these--I know they are expensive and may not ever offer "deals."

Hi N...we had gone to Anguilla twice a year but now go only once a year. We LOVE IT!! LL has some nice packages to Cuisinart. I have even seen Cap Jaluca. LL's new offering is Temenos. We love staying at a smaller property with self-catering facilities. Malliouhana is close to us. It is beautiful. They have been going through some management changes but the property is still a tradition. There are DEFINITELY deals to be had on Anguilla. Most properties discount their rates substantially from mid-May to mid-December. Plus, LL's packages are quite attractive. There are also many villas to rent. Anguilla is not an island dedicated to all-inclusives or the cruise ship industry. It is very low-key. Our joy is the beaches, snorkelling, visiting friends on island, playing tennis, and enjoying some local, creative food such as roti.

Thanks for the Anguilla info! It is definitely on my list and sounds right up my alley (I'd much rather hang out and read or explore in a beautiful spot than go out and party all night.)

Great Perk! However, you are right in renting on Virgin Gorda. A few years back while we spent time at the Paradise Beach Resort there, We walked the beach and wound up talking to one of the owners. I'll never forget what he said: "The smart ones rent, the dumb ones buy!" Have you ever noticed that many of the managers wind up Drunks? Rum is cheap and there is nothing to do on the island. It's great for a vacation, or a break, but to live on the island, no matter how beautiful, most permanent residents take every opportunity to get away from it. Besides, places to buy in Virgin Gorda are not cheap. Much better to rent!
