Canadian Zoom Airline enters US Market with a Route to LONDON
Zoom Airlines, a low cost Canadian carrier, was set to make its first foray into the U.S. market last Thursday (6/21/07) with a daily flight from JFK in New York to London's Gatwick Airport.
Zoom is offering one-way fares of $199 on its Boeing 767-300s. Slightly larger "premium economy" seats cost an additiona $179 each way. This one-way feature is nice if you want to take a boat back to the States...
Zoom does not require passengers to buy round-trip tickets or stay over a Saturday night, both typical requirements of cheaper flights. Zoom, based both in Ottawa and at Gatwick, operates 10 to 12 daily flights beteen Canada and Britain.

Hi travelfan
I'm so glad I noticed your post on Zoom airlines. It's an off-shoot of Air Canada and entered the heady field of 'discount' flights in an attempt to capture the growing segment of the travel market that's led by outfits like Southwest Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, Spirit Airlines and off course the grand-daddy of them all, and my personal favourite, Ryan Airways. I wish Zomm well because as a Canadian resident our choices of domestic airlines is quite limited. This will provide another option to the current leader in this field in Canada: Westjet. It'll also provide more choice for international flights and is therefore a very welcome addition. Thanx.
Curt,
