Changes at Luxury Link
Well, with all of the changes in the looks of the web site and several of the improvements and innovations in our Luxury Lounge community, I was further motivate to explore additional links.
Looks like there may have been some executive changes and there are several opening for new positions with Luxury Link. I trust the posting for a new travel concierge is expansion rather than replacement.
Although the captain has not yet illuminated the seat belt sign, I think I'll go ahead and secure mine. Changes on the flight deck and new crew members signifies something.
Any thought from you fellow loungers?

I agree - maybe change in ownership or a new investor with a majority stake. Maybe getting ready to branch out further into the world. Hope it does not signify any changes to how all us old timers are looked upon ;-)

01-28-2012, 06:35 AMDoesn't appear to be a change in ownership at Luxury Link.....maybe an emphasis in a new direction.
Does appear to be some type of change at the CEO position (analogy: NFL coaches change frequently when new directions are dictated).
Certainly apparent Luxury Link has assumed a stronger commitment to social media for reaching out to existing and potentially new clients.
We're in for the ride for whatever is in store for 2012.- Ω -

A few years ago, when there was a management change, I thought the new CEO came over from E-bay.
It certainly is true that LL has gained much greater exposure through twitter and facebook, reaching many more potential customers. The new look of LL certainly also contributes to attract more people.
It certainly is interesting to see all the changes, positive or otherwise, that LL has gone through, having been part of the Forum from the start. Agree with omegaet, we too are in for the ride for whatever is in store for 2012!

01-30-2012, 02:47 AMChanges.
I think all of who have kicked around Luxury Link for a few years have seen people come and go and Lord knows we have seen a lot of different things happen.
New people - new ideas - some work - some don't - OWNERS WANT BETTER PERFORMANCE - new people - new ideas - some work - some don't - and the wheel continues to turn.
At the end of the day, I'm still finding good deals here at Luxury Link and I'm looking forward to more interesting trips in the future.

01-30-2012, 08:01 PMOverall I'd say the changes in 2012 have been net negative. I preferred the old paint job but it really doesn't matter. The re-design has made the forum more visible and accessible but other than that I'd say the re-design is mostly a wash. Getting to the real negatives - many of our favorite properties have disappeared. I guess that's the breaks but they don't seem to have been replaced with like properties. I'd say there are fewer properties of interest than ever before. Another nit - you could almost always find a promo code in the past. Not so much any more. In terms of what I'd like to see in 2012. It would be nice if luxurylink offered the same auction terms as familygetaway. I'd bid on more properties if I could get a refund if dates didn't work out. The only logic for buy it now to cost more is refundability. Makes no sense for something to be non-refundable to the extent dates are unavailable. Also hoping to see another "around the world" this year. That was a fun promo to follow last year.

01-31-2012, 01:20 PMtomdav, good to have you post some of your feelings about the changes. Also, what type or in what locations do you feel LL is dropping the ball when it comes to choices? Actually, I don't mind the 'risks' of no refunds associated with buying auctions. I have bought a couple of buy now packages in the past, when I was a little uncertain of dates.
I would be interesting in having you expressing greater details in future postings on this subject.

tomdav,
I don't quite understand your problem. Before I commit to an auction, I always call the property before hand to make sure they do have availability. Many of the LL members do the same thing. Once the property says they do have availability, I go a head and commit to the auction. With this procedure, I never have had any problems. This procedure is called by many members "doing your homework". and it works like a charm. If you don't want to do your homework, then go through the "buy now" procedure and get a refund if the property does not have any availability for your dates.

02-02-2012, 10:16 AMWell I've done my homework. See yelp review by Jill a. here:
Luxury Link - Westchester / LAX - Los Angeles, CA
Clearly there are cases where calling the hotel to confirm availability will not work. Sure, LL may step up and offer a refund but I don't see why LL just can't offer the same terms as FG.
