Re: Coast Rica-Plus
Hi,
This thread has received a lot of attention/posts, but it has little to do with General Travel Q&A. It should be moved to the proper Destination Board where it belongs. As members of this Community we should make sure to use the Destination Boards whenever possible, and LL_Monitors should make an effort, from time to time, to move posts that obviously do not belonging here. Just my two cents worth....

LL_Travelfan, in response to your two cents, you are probably correct about this thread being incorrectlypositioned in General Travel Q & A. That responsibility falls directly on the shoulders of omegaet who originally started the thread. So we should all focus our criticisms on -O- for starting this mess, although several of us have contributed. Now, at least,we know who to blame for the root problem.
On a more positive note, I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to post their thoughts and suggestions in this incorrectly positioned thread, especially those pertaining to my interests in Costa Rica [which btw, was originally misspelled in the Subject Heading, another mistake made by -O-].
I would also continue to solicit input from members with suggestions and ideas of where I might visit as I begin tofocus on an upcoming destination to the south. I guess untilan LL_Moderator moves this to the Destination Boards, we can continue to post here.

LL_Travelfan & mountie...upon advise of counsel, I will enter a "Nolo Contendere" on the first charge of "incorrect positioning" of the original posting and have already taken steps to ammend -amend
- the initial incorrect spelling of Costa Rica.

-O-, thank you for accepting responsibility. So, no more postings in this thread, unless they deal with Costa Rica. Did you misspell amend on purpose? Of course, don't respond, because it would not deal with the subject!

bonniejoy03....just readan email from our friends at Punta Islita and see they are offering a special deal for eight days and seven nights 4 nights at Hotel Punta Islita and 3 nights at El Silencio Lodge for $953 (taxes included) @ person...based on double occupancy.
Maybe a dealbut notexactly a "steal,"from theirdiscounted rack rate.
Also noticed, LL currently has no offers for either property.
We tend to agree with you on a diminished interest in returning to Costa Rica primarily to "over development" and substantially higher costs over the past three or so years....although an opportunity to scoop up a low priced auction package for five nights or more at El Silencio might cause us to release the purse strings!- Ω -

Hi Omegaet. I didn't receive the email from Punta Islita. Nice deal but not fantastic. Have you seen how high the prices are for PI? (now they included full breakfast and not continental...guess that is the difference in price!) Yes, I was wondering why that hasn't been on LL for awhile.
I did notice Tortugo Lodge being offered on LL. Nice option for CR. I believe it is on the Caribbean side and a lot less touristy than the Pacific side.I wonder how CR and Belize will fair with the economic downturn. There were so many new properties, villas, resorts being opened in the past year. And,......prices are extremely high.

Re: Coast Rica-Plus
The November issue of Conde Nast Traveler lists Hotel Punta Islita as the Number One rated resort in Central America (rating of 90.4). So I guess they have benefited from their exposure on LuxuryLink as well as providing an excellent experience for visitors.
btw, if you haven't read the issue, a substantial number of the top rated resorts and hotels in the multiple lists have previously or are presently being offered at auction on LuxuryLink. There are still great buys to be made here!- Ω -

Wow, I just received an email solicitation from El Silencio Lodge in Costa Rica and it really looks fantastic. Wonder if LL is ever going to make another deal with Punta Islita which might also include El Silencio Lodge. Has anyone in the community been here yet?

Re: Coast Rica-Plus
Hi T. I also noticed that Silencio is asking for feedback on their website. I have some ideas that I will send to them because I never see any advertising on Silencio and it looks like a great property. Have you looked at Punta Islita lately? I noticed how high their prices are. Also, I read comments on TA and looked at VRBO and noticed that occupancy doesn't look too high. I have always loved PI (stayed over 6 times!) but I think they priced themselves out of the market. Wonder why they haven't come back on LL?????

bonniejoy03, Just in case LL_Travelfan nails me again for posting in the wrong thread. No wait a minute, this is a question about Costa Rica, which incidently is spelled incorrectly in the title of this thread, are you still planning a trip to El Silencio?
