CUBA IN JULY 2007
My husband & I are planning to fly to Cuba from Grand Cayman after a wedding in July. The prospective groom has warned me his friends say Cuba is in reality depressing - dirt and poverty prevalent. We want to see the old city and historic areas. Best place to stay & dine? Safety tips appreciated. Need to avoid being
tracked by US Govt?

Hi Dollarhide,
I was going to refer you to the section by destination, under the caribbean, but I see that you have already found it. Good luck.

Interesting Thread. Assuming it's illegal for US Citizens to visit Cuba, how does one go to Cuba without being detected by the US Government? I imagine they will stamp your VISA on your passport.

Re: CUBA IN JULY 2007
WHEN VISITING CUBA WITHOUT US PERMISSION, ONE BOOKS TRAVEL OVER THE PHONE & PAYS IN CASH ON DEPARTURE. ONE DOES NOT LEAVE ANY PAPER TRAIL. THE CURRENT PENALTY (I THINK) IS $65,000 PER PERSON. PERSONS GO FREQUENTLY FROM GRAND CAYMEN ON CAYMEN AIR. I ASSUME YOU SHOW YOUR PASSPORT, BUT DO NOT GET IT STAMPED. IT MAY JUST BE THAT IT IS NOT WORTH THE FINANCIAL PENALTY.
