Have booked the Rome- Barcelona trip- any suggestions to arranged personalized guides/tours in ports?

Hi Mart, Oh that cruise sounds wonderful! We did the Seadream in the Caribbean a few years ago and loved it. Which ports will you be visiting? We were on a Windstar cruise Rome to Barcelona 2 years ago and had a great time. We were cautioned the entire time about pickpockets in Barcelona. Sure enough, someone made an unsuccessful attempt to separate my husband from his camera, sojustbe careful.
Hi we are on the nov 30 we start rome, cruise every day and our stops include, nice, monte carlo, marseille,. zThanks for the pickpocket info..
Hi fernsmile, We did a private tour from Marseille with a local, Catherine. This is her website: http://www.provence-travel.com I had met someone on Cruise Critic who actually arranged this. In the end we had 4 couples, so were able to split the cost. She lets you design your plan for the day, with some suggestions. We went to Aix and few other places, including a stop at a winery. I think we really did too much, but that's our own fault. She met our ship and we had a very nice day. Also (my opinion of course) Marseille isn't so great, so you want to do something to see the nicer surrounding areas. From Nice or Mante Carlo, you may want to do an excursion to Eze. We did this with a tour from the ship rather than a private company. Monte Carlo is so small. you can really just walk around. We also did little train tour (like a little Disney train ride) on our own. You put on head phones and choose your language. It was about 6 Euros. Nice is also very walkable. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful cruise. Seadream is the best! Do you have any time in Rome or Barcelona on either end of the trip?
Marla?
Thanks for the reply- my, you are amazingly informed. yes we have 3 nights in Rome and 2 in Barcelona at the end- I am interested in Jewish content too and art in general is my passion. He has a tentative booking in Barcelona for the 1864 or something with a number like that. I am supposed to book Rome- so any suggestions- we really want location. Can't wait for your feedback, fern

Hi fern, In Rome we stayed at the Albergo Ottocento hotel: http://www.albergottocento.it/inglese/hotel.htm
It's a little boutique-type place, and we enjoyed it very much. It's sort of between the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain - you can easily walk to both. We also walked to the Colosseum, but that was a bit of a hike. There are so many nice hotels, it's hard to choose. But you'll have a wonderful time no matter what!
