Destination Wedding
OK, I have a question for all you romantics/world travellers out there;
My husband and I have decided that every 5 years we would like to get re-married in a different way.
Our first wedding was a more or less traditional Jewish ceremony at a "castle" in New York with the band, flowers etc. All of our friends and family were there.
The second one was in the woods, by a waterfall in Oregon. We had a Native American Pipe Ceremony , officiated by a Shaman. It was very moving and very beautiful.
Now 10 years is on the horizon and I am at a loss. Does anyone out there have any ideas? I am open to pretty much anything.

Here are a few ideas that I contemplated before choosing a castle in Tuscany for our destination wedding:
- barefoot on a beach (Maldives? Fiji?)
- a Balinese wedding blesssing, complete with traditional costumes and traditional dancers (LuxuryLink currently has some great offers for lux hotels in Bali, like the Viceroy)
- Venice or Paris: the most romantic cities in the world?

Re: Destination Wedding
Thanks for the suggestions, Cruisinred. Honestly I thought more people would get into this question.
Anyway, maybe the Balinese idea. I'd really have to look more into that. But just going to a city really isn't that special (remember we're already married). The ceremony is more of the focal point.
I just thought of something. Maybe a Hawaiian ceremony. Never been there, don't really know what that entails (a luau?). Does anyone else know?

A Hawaiian ceremony on the beach at sunset?...wow...The Hawaiian culture entails many spiritual elements that would be meaningful for vow renewal. Any of the islands would be wonderful, and LL has several properties from which to choose. The properties could get you in touch with any and all of the wedding contributors you might wish to use...officiant, flowers, leis, reception...whatever. Mazel Tov! Cheers...Marolyn

Thanks Marolyn. I'm liking this idea more and more... I've always resisted the idea of going to Hawaii for the stupid reason that absolutely everyone else I know has been there. As a rule I don't usuallly like to go with the crowds. My style is more off the beaten path, shall we say.
But my husband has always wanted to see Hawaii and a polynesian wedding could be great.

If the beaten path is not for you, Hawaii still has some rather private spots that are paradise. For example, on Maui you could take the harrowing drive to Hana and enjoy the black sand beach for your ceremony. Other islands have unique spots that are still pristine and private. The research might pay off in a big way for you two. You might even find a new venue for LL to offer. Cheers...Marolyn

I can give you another suggestion, you can also go south of Hawaii and consider either somewhere in one of the outer islands of the French Polynesia or Fiji, there are wonderful resorts which are quite nice, specially for more romantic moments like yours. We spend part of our honeymoon in Fiji and saw a wedding ceremomy and it was quite beatiful!
Another place that you might want to consider would be Agra home of the Taj Mahal.I am sure they can arrange an Indian-style ceremony near this beautiful monument which after all is a monument to love!

In line with Jimena's suggestion, you could do a small ceremony on the terrace of the Oberoi Amarvilas, which has amazing views of the Taj. Early in the morning or at sunset are prime times for such a ceremony - the light makes the Taj look pink and glorious.

Re: Destination Wedding
I am going to start checking into exactly what a polynesian wedding entails i.e. what the ceremony is like and what the spiritual meanings are etc.
I really want the wedding to mean something to us as well asthewhole spectacle of it.
If anyone is interested, let me know and I will share my findings.
Thanks to everyone that helped with suggestions.
Any others are welcome as well.

Pleae let us know what you decide to do as well as what you discover about the Hawaiian ceremonies. Maybe you will find a wonderful LL property for your event. I'm a wedding junkie, so I'd even be interested in pictures. Cheers...Marolyn
