Dining Recommendations...We Should Have a Section for This as Well

I have read several posts as well as written many myself regarding dining, food, drinks etc.. We should definitely have a section for this, I noticed a section where the LL Editors reviewed restaurants in places all around the world and found it extremely useful and informative. It's great to travel and visit all these places but I know from my own experience, I find myself doing extensive research to find the best places to eat when I vacation.This issomething that I feel is probably high on everyone's list. Living in NYC, yes I'm spoiled with choices so I like to compare when I travel and hopefully do so with the right places.



Would others be interested in this idea ?



Who knows, maybe this will lead to dining auctions like the ones on other websites....;)

Yes Enewseven,I agree that this would be a good idea. Personally whenI am away on holiday, eating out is definately one of the highlights of the holiday. To me,booking the restaurant, getting dressed up to go out for the meal,spending time in the restaurant and enjoying the meal is a big part of a successful holiday/vacation. I think if the food is not up to scratch then I think it really does put a damper on your holiday. Getting recommendations from others would definately be an advantage. Hopefully the moderators agree. Cheers!

I agree, it's a great idea! I was just thinking this, as I read in another post where Omegaet mentioned vegetarian food. In addition to looking for great food, we also look for vegetarian choices. It would be nice to have a forum for these discussions. While rare, I think LL did have dining auctions every now and then, such as the 21 Club. Hopefully they will listen to the feedback and increase the offerings in this area.

7...I think the LL Community Members can be a valuable source of information regarding dining. Any guide book, hotel front desk orconcierge can direct us to good eating establishments, but it's always interesting to have other who are no "financially motivate" share their opinions and experiences. We are vegetarians and we always appreciate tips from other travelers regarding vegetarian choices. That's one of nice aspects of the reviews written on www.tripavisor.com .....travelers often include information on restaurants.

Yes, auctions on dining have been very popular on many other websites. I've seen them on Skyauction.com and I've actually used restaurants.com and the saving are usually really great as well as the quality of restaurants. Either way, I always like to hear recommendations on where to go and what to order without someone telling me that is financially motivated (as O mentioned in his post).

7...I have wondered why LL has not included auctions for events, such as the South Beach Wine & Food Festival www.southbeachwineandfoodfest.com. This is a huge event, held in a beautiful venue, during a time of the year when a lot of people would like to escape less desirable weather. I notice all of the special events that are highlighted (and the special member packages offered)in my monthly Amex mailing. I'm sure these events are always open to additional promotional opportunities.

I agree 100%. In some of my other threads, I've suggested that LL create a section on up coming events at each destination. i believe this could be done at the actual auction offering page. To have an area that the resort can actually post these events as well as any other information that might be useful in helping a consumer make their final decision.



I love South Beach and the information you have provided about the wine and food festival has got my attention. If this information was available for example on The Raleigh auction, I believe that would be very helpful !!

7...we've attended the SoBe Wine & Food Fest since the inception (a few tents and folding tables on the campus of Florida International University).....now the tents are the length of football fields and a erected right on the sand in South Beach. The hottest evening events tickets were sold out the first day they were released. The guys behind this event have a lot of horse power and they love "PROMOTION"and demonstrate their willingness to entertain all types of offers. In another couple of weeks, visit www.cmarket.com. You should see a list of the auction items being offered at the SoBe this year...you can bid on-line. We bought a couple of items last year, including a trip to Paris and Reims (2 F/C air tickets). Maybe you should come down to Miami for that weekend, get a tan, sip some fine wine and jump in the live auction.

That's a good enough excuse for me ! I'll look into that, I was just actually telling my fiancee (yesterday LOL) that we need to have a weekend in SoBe sometime very soon...;)
