East Coast Snow...Weo???
Well it is here.....snow is closing everything. I heard that BWI, Philly, DC airports have most flights cancelled. Here in Central PA we are expecting over a foot. The storm is being called "a once in every 20 year storm!" PS- I got to the grocery storm at 5am! Absolutely no crowds but not too much food......it was all picked over on Friday night.
Safe travels today to anyone trying to get somewhere......

Re: East Coast Snow...Weo???
Hi boniejoy03,
Thanks for the storm update. Try to stay safe and warm, and don't go out if you don't absolutely have to until this storm blows over. We, in Sarasota, FL got hit with very heavy rains yesterday, but it has blown over by now. It was exciting last night to see the waves crash onto the beach. The sun is out now and we have about 73 degrees. Not bad. Miami, aparently got also very hard hit yesterday. There was flooding in the streets of Miami, with cars up to their hubcaps in the water.

Re: East Coast Snow...Weo???
Thanks for the FLorida update. They are saying this storm is one of the worse in years. Philly is still under over 20 inches of snow! My husband is out with the snow blower now. We have about 15 inches in Central PA. Most flights are still not operating. At this point, it is still snowing but it is weaker. There is a lot of wind. Only up to 31 in Philly today........

Re: East Coast Snow...Weo???
bonniejoy03...we were having dinner at a restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale last evening....close to several hotels used by cruise ships passengers. Talking to some of the other customers, who are planning to depart Ft. Lauderdale this afternoon on ships, it is obvious loads of travel plans have been ruined for Christmas week cruises....the ships will be sailing and many, many passengers simply will not be aboard. Also, driving by the airport last evening.....traffic was a mess....late and cancelled departures and arrivals.

Re: East Coast Snow...Weo???
Well, we have a paltry 1" accumulation. I'm busy dipping 300 caramels in bittersweet chocolate (200 more to go) made 450 marshmallows--all packaged/shipped for gifts and hoping they make it through the snow.
My husband, on the other hand, is getting good rest, taking a few hundred folks to Rome this afternoon, and we're both wondering how he'll get home for Christmas from NY (or will he head back overseas and fly over the 25th?) Actually, better he fly than sit in a hotel...we can celebrate a Faux Ho Ho another day. Whatever works!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to ALL
update is the Rome flight has canceled so he's on call for the rest of the day--maybe more holiday cruise disappointments?Message Edited by kyshel on 12-20-2009 11:04 AM"wherever you go, there you are"

Re: East Coast Snow...Weo???
Oh...this storm has been tough on everyone including the economy! We could get out yesterday and have a lunch out. MacKenzie loved bouncing in the snow and enjoyed her first major snow storm (she is 6 1/2 months old now.) Hate thinking about driving to work this morning on the icy roads. My father in Philly is stuck in. No plows come down his city street! I told him to stock up on snacks so he is fine!
Looks like another storm is coming for Christmas....prediction is a snow/rain/ice mix....yuck. And...today is the 1st day of winter. I think it will be a loooooong winter!

Re: East Coast Snow...Weo???
Hi,
We have a partly cloudy, fridgid 46 degrees that feels more like 41 degrees due to the strong winds and we are digging out the sweaters. Holiday shoppers were everywhere yesterday, no noticable recession here judging from the number of people in the stores, but people are spending less so it seems. Christmas decorations seem bigger and better than in the years past. There are lights everywhere.... Surprisingly, our friends made it out to Arizona without a hitch. We too have another storm in the forecast for Christmas eve bringing thundershowers. Yep, it might well be a cold, looooooong winter! even for Floridians....
