Hi Chbrodtmann. Haven't been to that property but a little familiar with Ambergris and Caye Caulker. Ambergris is a nice get away especially if you want to snorkel or dive. You will be located right at the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world! The beaches are not like the Caribbean and you will see more turtle grass. It has gotten extremely more built up during the past 5 years. It used to be more laid back. It still is quite small though. You can rent golf carts in town to get around. Caye Caullker is even smaller. Again, both destinations are fantastic for diving/snorkelling/fishing. Plus, both locations offer day trips to Mayan ruins so you can incorporate a day at the beach with a day visiting sights.

Thanks for your response. I looked at the google map and WOW it has grown since the last time I was in Belize. We were in Placencia about 5-6 years ago and WOW has that changed as well. My dad went to the co-op and bought lobsters as the season had just opened and Ramone's let us grill them in the back - we had a big group of people we had met down there and had a great time! I remember it fondly.

cbrodtmann. Great memories! I remember also catching and grilling lobsters on the beach! No one hardly travelled there! I noticed a big difference at the airport this January when we were flying home from Belize City. The airport had been so funky and small. There used to be a "waving" deck upstairs! Jet still had his bar downstairs. We did see him on this trip but it wasn't the same. It was packed in the waiting area with tons of tourists! It reminded me of Disney! On Placencia, they have added so many luxury properties that are quite expensive. We had met a few developers and they are planning even more communities. Though, occupancy is still not high so will wonder how they will sustain???
