Matthewlawrence - I've noticed in your posts that you are a poster of few words - in order to get the advice you need, it's best to add some specifics to your questions. California is a huge state! Where are you going? What is "within your budget"? What kind of food do you like? There are lots of people here with great advice but your questions always seem so vague....please help us out!
