Just received an invitation to a a great End of the World Party - Mayan Calendar - Thur nite Dec 20 & Fri morning Dec 21 2012 in Miami Beach.

Called the hotel to book a room and reservation agent asked if I wanted to pre-pay and take advantage of their weekend package (Fri - Sat nites - late check-out Sun).

Told her No Thanks - would pay when we check out Sat, if the world still exists!

Anyone else planning to attend an End of the World Party this year?

omegaet, I thought you were going to Ka'ana in Belize for the end of the world. I saw this offer posted through a Twitter link.

"The Ka'ana Resort Belize, set along the western border of the country, is offering guests the $100 Off for 100 Days promotion to celebrate of Maya 2012 “end of days,” the last 100 days of the Maya calendar, Sept. 12 to Dec. 21. Just another way to make some $ - it is just the end of the Mayan calendar cycle and not the end of the world ;-)

I have booked and paid my money on a January Luxury Link holiday. I hope I did not waste my money and lose out by not booking for December before the world ends. No wonder they have such good bargains here for 2013.

Considering the End of the World Party - Mayan Calendar prediction, we moved our reservations for Ka'ana Resort back to the middle of November in order to take a day trip and explore the ruins in Tikal Tikal, Travel to Tikal National Park in Guatemala, general info on Tikal tours, transportation to Tikal, Tikal hotels, flights to Tikal from Belize, Cancun and Guatemala to enjoy Tikal at its best and explore other ancient Maya sites. one more time.

I love Tikal and had the opportunity once to go with one of the top Mayan archaeologists and got some great tours - I wished that I had longer time so I could have continued the journey with him further down river to much less touristed sites!

O-are you staying at one of the properties close to Tikal? We enjoyed staying at Ka'ana a few years ago. Loved taking the local bus into San Ignacio. Funky town. Great small places to eat. We also took the local bus to visit some closer by ruins.

That's right my 40th is 12/21/2012 and we have decided to throw a party like it is the end of the world! Going to attach a heated tent to the house and heat it up to MIAMI!
