HAHA--I was wondering about the end of the world as I settled down to my flat-bed pod, flying Beijing to Detroit. Guess it wasn't cataclysmic, since my husband called from Seattle a few hours later. Sure hope he gets home in one piece tonight!

Where would you like to be when the world ends?
With all this talk of the world ending, it makes one stop to think.....where would I like to be when the world ends? Well, Andrew Harper came up with some interesting choices, and a few of them are LL properties currently being offered. I've been to one of them.

10: Casa Palopo - “Dramatically situated villa-like hideaway overlooking scenic Lake Atitlán and towering volcanoes,” in the heart of Guatemala’s Mayan country.
9: Padaste Manor – “Tranquil and exquisitely restored manor house on the tiny island of Muhu,” in rural Estonia.
8: The Oberoi Amarvilas – “Dazzling hotel built in the style of a Mughal palace, amid nine acres of landscaped gardens, reflecting pools and fountains just 600 yards from the Taj Mahal,” in Agra, India.
7: Capella Lodge – “Tranquil, recently renovated lodge… on an island of scarcely believable natural beauty,” off the coast of Australia.
6: Titilaka – “Singular hotel in enchanting, end-of-the-world lakeside setting,” on Lake Titicaca in Peru.
5: Amanjiwo – “Serene and elegant resort looking out onto majestic Borobudur (the largest Buddhist monument in the world) in the lush heartland of Central Java,” in Indonesia.
4: Six Senses Yao Noi – “Sumptuous 24-acre island resort with a magical location in Phang Nga Bay, about 45 minutes by speedboat from Phuket,” in Thailand.
3: Azura – “Lavish and ecologically sensitive lodge on Beguerra Island in the marine reserve of Bazaruto National Park,” near Vilanculos in Mozambique.
2: Les Pres d’Eugenie – “Renowned and exquisitely appointed hotel and spa created by legendary chef Michel Guérard, two hours south of Bordeaux,” in southwest France.
1: Cocoa Island – “Understated yet luxurious resort on a small coral island, a 45-minute speedboat ride from Malé,” in the Maldives.
