Re: england mystery auction
Hi Matthew,
First of all - do your homework (at least, with the mystery auctions, in terms of dates - does that work with your schedule?) With the mystery auctions you can generally come to a pretty good guesstimate as to where the package is based on clues and especially the items included in the package - generally you will find a similar or exact match to the package in a regular auction. If you can determine the location, it is nice to go online to the property's reservation system or even call to make sure there is availability in the timeframe you are considering.
Next, just bid! Some people tend to wait until the end so the price doesn't increase in a bidding war for days beforehand. Keep in mind, this is not EBay - you can't go in and snipe in the final seconds. Be prepared for the timeframe to increase with every new bid at the end, the auction will continue for 5 minutes after the last bid has been submitted so it really comes down to price, not time. Set your maximum price in your mind and continue bidding up to it if others are bidding. Or, do as I do and go crazy with the competition at the end and just keep bidding until you get it. Good luck!

Re: england mystery auction
I just read your posting and I was wondering what would prevent someone from bidding on an auction in the last few seconds, ala e-Bay? Also, if I'm understanding correctly, an auction can continue well past its posted closing time if people continue to bid on the item. Is that correct?

Re: england mystery auction
you got it!
the last bid is only the last bid if it's the last bid.
you can bid within 5 minutes of the "last" bid and bidding goes on until the last "last" bid. Does that help?"wherever you go, there you are"

That's what I thought, but being new to the website, I just wanted to make sure. Thanks.
